97 Civic HB DX

I just received my Apexi NOIR exhaust, Omni Test pipe and DC Headers but there’s a problem. The flange on the Apexi pipe that is suppose to attach to the cat/test pipe is a 2 bolt flange while the flange on the test pipe is a 3 bolt flange. Every connection on the DX is a 2 bolt flange according to the service manual while the CX and others use a 3 bolt……wtf. So needless to say they just don’t make a test pipe with a 2 bolt flange on both ends apparently. Apexi only offers one version for the HB that’s “suppose” to work with all the 96-00 HB’s.

I’m having one of my mechanical contractors plasma cut a new 3 bolt flange to match the one on the test pipe but it’s not gonna be done in time. Why the hell does Honda use a 3 bolt on some and a 2 bolt on others? Couldn’t I just take an old cat and cut the end off and maybe bore it out to match the increased pipe size of the Apexi? Just a giant headache when I thought I got all the parts to do a simple bolt up installation.

Anyone else run into this problem or did Apexi F up the end of that pipe?
