Default my car sounded like a ricer..

my o2 sensor was f'ed up and i had 2 threads already on it. so i went to the same junkyard and picked up a obd1 new sensor again. so i had to trade my old o2 sensor back to him so i had no o2 sensor on. i took the bolt off my testpipe and put it on the cat but i left it lose by accident and i drove in the freeway and the bolt fell off..the ricer sound arrived. i thought my cars headers went lose so i exit the freeway and pulled over and looked under my car and reved it to like 3000rpm and it was the cat. so i drove home with the ricer sound, but ill admit it sounded sick hitting vtec, but the car was so much slower. my question(s)- is it dangerous driving with the hole open on the cat? Is the car obviously going to be slower or faster? for some reason it felt slower...

im guessing the hole is creating turbulance and slowing the exhaust flow..i would guess it would be slower i dont know if it would be noticable though

dude its sucks. and im also 17 so im a young driver i guess.....and the cop looked under my hood saw carb number on the intake...but the headers he didnt say anything about it and the exhaust...weird...but he told me why my car is so loud i told him i backed out my driveway and my exhaust hit the ground and it make it leak....he actually belived me....and he looked in the back of my car and saw my testpipe and my cat heatsheild. he asked me why my cat is off and i told him its not. then he asked me why i have that pipe back there i told him i dont know its just there. -_- so then the wrote my ticket and i left. i got pulled over at 11:50ish and i left the spot at 12:45....my parents couldnt stop bitching at me going home late. i told them about the ticket they didnt belive me at first that the cop wrote me ticket going 5mph over speed limit because they usually write it 10mph+

It's not dangerous to drive around like that, it felt slower because there was no backpressure at all. I broke my resonator in half on a Wendy's driveway one time and drove around for a week like that lol.

you will go slower because the engine is under powered. The O2 sensor controls the A/F ratio, so no O2 sensor, means the ECU runs on a base map, which is only ideal for specific conditions. It wont moderate the fuel properly, so you will be runnin the same A/F ratio all the time till you get the sensor in. Also, it is bad to drive without it.
