Default D15 mini me turbo?

Just wondering, has any body done this.......if so please let me know what im getting into, im on a super tight budget and dont really need to spend mad loot for high horsepower......just trying to do a quick build for experience and fun.

I have an 88DX so Im obviously using the d15, but unclear of which Vtec head to use or are they the same if they are are SOHC, if not which is better? Also could I upgrade my stock ECU to an SI ECU (PM6)?

I have searched all over tryin to find something about this little project and I cant find anything.

I found full turbo kits on ebay for the d15, but not sure if I should trust the manufacturers. And like i said I want to do the mini me on top of it.
for example heres a link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

Only reply to this post if you know what your talking about , i dont need a lecture on why I shouldnt do this. Just facts on what I need to complete this.

thanx in advance.

Thats the type of company that you want to stay away from..90% of they're products are garbage and the customer service sucks....SS auto chrome, stone racing,xs power are all the same thing,,,,they make some decent products...but their manifolds, turbos, and wastegates are iffy....

if you dont have that much money why not just turbo the D15b2 motor? forget about mini-me setup...

Well, the Vtec head will give me a gain of about 20 HP, plus the turbo. So if anybody knows a good turbo that wont put too much power for my little a$$ block!?? .....lemme know.

forget about VTEC head, dealing with timing with mini-mes is a bitch in NA form, let alone boosted.
use a T25 or 14B for your D15.

Im going through the same thing you are right now i have a manifold, intercooler, turbo still trying to get other parts just be patient cause i put this project aside sooo many times so just stick to your plan..and visit this web site..

Post Re: D15 mini me turbo?

I am doing the same thing but I have the 95 Civic hatch DX with the D15b7 and swapping heads for a nicely ported Z6 with y8 IM. I am boosting with Garrett and pushing upwards to 10psi

The parts I needed or though helped was-
- WALBRO 255LPH Pump
- 450cc DSM blu top injectors
- y8 IM complete
- .030 Metal head gasket
- The Vitara 75mm D series Pistons/ rings 8.5:1cr
- Rods and rod bearing by ACL (bearings)
- ARP Studs are a must
- P28 ECU (virgin to start)
- OBD1 Vtec Dizzy off the Z6
- Turbo kit (Garrett i used)
- New Water pump is highly recommended
- HIGHLY RECOMMEND TUNING FOR THE P28 Vtec (use Neptune)
- XTD Stage 3 Clutch/ flywheel if you want... ($cheap$)

The project has just begun... I will be hopefully pumping out 220-230whp
(Its my DD not a race car)

A properly sized turbo will be capable of making much more HP than your internals can handle. Any money spent on a better head, porting, intake manifold etc... would be a total waste of money.
