Default Every Civic Has This Problem?

The coilovers on my 97 honda civic ex have been adjusted to lower the car pretty far. Then on to of that I have 2 12" subwoofers in the trunk. Anyways all these factors are taking the geometry out of the car. It's making the back tires flare out REAL bad. Like instead of going straight up and down, they're almost at a 45 degree angle. Is it just the coilovers? or something more serious? What do you think?

a wheel alignment will make your wheels go "straight up and down"

I can just go to like Midas or something and ask for a wheel alignment and that would probably help out?

A camber kit is what corrects your "45 degree angle" problem. Do a search and see if you can find one. And raise your car up a little, unless you want to keep buying new tires.

What's a general place you guys would recommend to go to? just look around in the phone book, or a place like sears/midas/ etc.? Ya i want to get NEW coilovers and raise the height on the car.

Quit giving this guy false info. His car is lowered so his camber is fucked HE NEEDS A CAMBER KIT TO CORRECT THIS. An alignment corrects any drag that the car has. Wen your alignment is messed up the wheels are positioned too much one way (left or right) when its perfect the wheels are perfectly straight and the car will steer in a straight line like it should.

just buy a camber kit and take it to an aligment shop and have them install it. THey'll tell you if your alignment is messed up or not. THey wont charge you to check it... I would go to an actual alignment shop and not midas or sears.

he stated his wheels are at 45 degree angle.

Apparently you dont understand his problem.. his wheels are like this

A camber kit allows you to adjust it so the wheels go back to normal or as close to it.

whether or not he needs a camber kit should depend on how low his car is. either way you still ended up telling him to get an alignment so i don't really see what your point is.

get a ******* clue man. Read his post. His problem is NOT his alignment. He doesnt say when he lets go of his wheel his car pulls hard ( left or right) it says his car is lowered so the wheels dont go up and and down like they should which means he needs a camber kit. Lowering a car doenst mess with the alignment..

his alignment can still be off whether or not his wheels are straight...

he lowered his car and most of the time if you *** with suspension components, you'd want to get an alignment.

with the whole flaring situation, if its the rear, just do the washer and bolt trick..no need to go and spend $100 bux when you can spend 5...

you're suppose to get an alignment after modifying your suspension

in his post, he doesnt say anything about his car pulling or how it is when driving. when he says his wheels dont go up and down like they should i assume he is trying to say they arent straight like they should be which means his alignment is off. you told him to buy a camber kit then go get an alignment which is what i basically suggested him to do in the beginning. if anything, you're the one giving the false info

obviously a typo, but not to him..

if it is the rear wheels that are flaring out then this link will go into more detail about the washer and bolt trick.

Camber, Caster and Toe. An allignment will, if nothing else, help fix all those mentioned. Lots of half-truths in this thread.
