Default coilover recommendations for dc5 '05

its not gonna see the track/canyon/anything w/ racing. its for looks and ride comfort. no need to hear "get springs instead". what coilovers (no sleeves) u guys suggest? megans any good?

Why not do a set of lowering springs with a nice set of shocks? Maybe the Mugen SS setup or a Koni/Tein S-tech setup?

I'd rather have either of those two over a set of Megans.

Adjustable coilovers with standard rate springs will be much more uncomfortable then a set of lowering springs with good shocks.

wtf, if its not gonna do anything but for looks/ride comfort, springs will save your *** some money while giving the same look. the lower you go, the more you sacrifice on ride quality.

wow. people cant comprehend. then again i shoulda just posted @ clubrsx. good job on contributing to an answer to a question i didnt bother asking. bad job on my part for asking the forum here. also, if the car needed to be raised, money spent on something thatll save labor is worth it.

anyways. if u cant provide a direct answer to my question gtfo. what part of 'no need to hear "get springs instead".' is so hard to understand. no need to hear = dont reply if your answer is similar to this

See a trend here? I think everyone else is right, buddy.

Full coilovers and comfort just weren't meant to be.

yea i see a trend. a trend of dumbasses who cant post for ****. none of the responses have no info in regards to certain brands of coilovers.

a trend of dumbasses who dont understand english. "no need to hear 'get springs instead'."

i guess thats the double edge sword of having a lot of people on a forum. the good side is people will respond and u will get at least 1 good response. the bad side is most are retards that will respond with retarded answers.

all of you get a for no help.

i got my answer. teins ss techs will do. the money being spent isnt yours to worry about so go buy yer "jdm" parts and *** boy get your halo projector lights and type r sticker with the money u "saved" on getting springs.

thread is done. delete/lock the thread please

actually, you can get full coilovers and be comfort. I'd recommend the tein-ss with the pillow ball mounts. I had a set of those on my daily driver and never complained, those things felt awesome.

Been doing some reasearch on what coilovers are right of me as well. I suggest doing a bit of research yourself to figure out what would be best for you. I can sit here and say "brand X is the best because of..." but half the fun of modifying is figuring out what you need and why... OH and how you're going to pay for it haha

Actually, Pillow ball mounts, contrary to the name, do not make the ride quality 'softer', but rather deal with adjustability; they wouldn't do anything but add $300 to his spending if all he is doing is dropping the car. I would recommend Buddy Club N+, they are about 400 less than Tein's, they have height adjustability without affecting spring rate. I've done a lot of research and they are what I'm going for.

How much of a drop do you want?

I'll venture a guess and say that, once you start fiddling with the suspension, you'll want to push it harder -- and good handling will become a necessity.

By that, I mean that doing too much of a drop or mismatching shocks & springs will begin to make the car handle worse and negate any benefits that you would've paid for.

well this is actually asked for a friend. he wants something more than 2.5" which coilovers can give compared to regular spring/shock combos... ill refer the buddy clubs to him. thanks

oh jdm yo! wheres your logic for calling me a ricer considering you have to ask "u consider puttin honda integra type r badges on a type s ricer? " is it for that maaco job u want? write me a 3 page paper on what makes a person writer from asking opinions on coilovers vs. someone that is considering getting halo lights, maaco job, fake badging. better yet... get off ht and study your algebra/us history so ull pass your senior year simply because american teenagers are at the all time highest low

your little punk *** dont know **** about cars during the 90s so u cant even tell what fell through to what fell off to or what even what was considered tite to what was wack from then till now. stfu and graduate highschool or better yet jump off the "jdm" bandwagon and crash your car so your parents can buy you a jetta.

if anything... i should be calling you a poser. nm. you are a poser. wanna be jdm. wanna autocross. lol jus cuz u lowered ur car u think u autocross. take ur lame ideas and shove em up yer ***. type r stickers/ emblems on a type s angel eye headlights yer dumbass considering getting a 600 dollar maaco job to have a different color lol u get what you pay for. to you overall. stop waisting your time in replying simply because you have nothing useful to say that really doesnt pertain to what i originally asked.

Pucancakes, you're an *******, AND an idiot. Just because someone is younger doesn't mean they're less knowledgable, and you're one to talk - you have worse grammar than most of GDD. That's saying a lot.

To answer your question, Tein SS is my recommendation, though you'll be an uneconomical idiot on top of being just plain dumb for getting coilovers when a set of shocks and springs will do you just fine.

Buddy Club N+ or Buddy Club RSD's are guaranteed to be the best bet for lowering a DC5! but i suggest the N+'s since the Racing Spec Dampers would be for racing and you said your not gonna track it. the only downside to buddy clubs are they dont come with brakeline brackets, but just zip tie the **** out of it, thats what everyone else does. BC's are guaranteed to be the quietest, and ride the best for how much you can drop it. because tein's are too soft to lower them too much ive seen the upper control arm put a hole in the engine bay because of it. but thats just my .02 cents, so whatever.

Yea i know they don't help the ride, but they will let him adjust it fully to get it driving "like stock" as possible and very smooth IMO. We adjusted the set I had and imo the ride was much better than stock ride.

I say get off ur high horse and stop being so picky. Its not like thers a difference in having a spring/shock setup and a damper kit. They are both the same so don't get on anyones case if they are making a suggestion for a suspension setup. As for me I prefer the spring and shock setup. But if you are looking for damper kits I would suggest tein RA's or if u u don't have the money for those get the tein SS dampers. But if I were u I would just go with a spring/shock setup.

i have the rsd's on an itr and i love them. they are definitely on the stiffer side for daily driving but that doesn't really bother me. the n+ are a good match to that kind of driving. lower level teins are crap, you need to be purcahsing at least the RA's to get a decent product.
