Default How does 2 S4C Tranny's differ so much?

i messed up the one that came with my car and it had no vin plate or even looked like it had any. so i just installed a 99 SI in my car now and wow big difference in gear ratio. with my old s4c i use to cruise in 4th now i cruise in 3rd. it even feels slower. now i know my old one was'nt no ctr tranny cuz it had no LSD(u can see the rod). my only guess is that it was from either a del-sol or it was jdm. but both being s4c why does the 99 si has longer gear ratio???

99 S4C doesn't have a longer gear ratio. They are one of, if not the shortest geared transmission for the B-series. Look in the FAQ for the differences in B-series tranny gearing.

edit: nevermind, I thought you were asking how an S4C is geared longer than another type of trans you've tried. Didn't know that the earlier model b16 transmission were S4C's as well. Oh well, I'm retarded

Sounds like the gears were swapped in one of the transmissions, or there is an aftermarket final drive in your original transmission.

No vin plate? sounds fishy, probably was opened or something.

When i bring my Tranny upstairs and open it up how would i know if its a lets say a type-r final drive? teeth count maybe?

I'm also opening it up to see what broke in it and i have a feeling it might have had a Phantom grip type of lsd cuz it use hold *** in the rain unlike my 99 si tranny(yes i can feel one wheel slipping and before both.)
