Default People running ZC's...........

I have a friend with an 89 CRX Si and he's wanting to swap in a DOHC ZC longblock. I've done a few swaps and I'm gonna be the one to drop the motor in. I haven't swapped many 4th gens. I recently put a 96 B18B1 into my girlfriend's 91 CRX but that's about it. I have a few concerns with this ZC swap that I'd like to get straight.
Here's the plan I have: Get a ZC longblock and then use the CRX Si tranny, axles, ECU and engine harness. The things I'm not sure of are which parts interchange: If the longblock doesn't come with a distributor, injectors, flywheel, motor mounts, intake or exhaust manifold, will the parts from the SI work? Other than that, from what I understand it's a straightforward swap. Is there any additional wiring involved, such as O2 sensor or anything different?

everything should swap over. you will need to wire up two wires to the crank angle sensor. i think that is it. any one else want to make sure i didnt miss lead him?

Need a DOHC D-series intake manifold (find a JDM ZC one)
Oh yeah and the distributor mightnot line up perfectly, but It'll work (I THINK)

the motor will come with all that minus maybe the flywheel and you'll most likely have to use the Si exh. manifold or a header. the intake manifold and distributor are ZC and 86-89 integra specific, Si won't work on either one.

-using Si tranny use si/DX axles.
-if using ZC tranny you WILL need a ZC intermedaite shaft and 90-93 teg axles.
-engine harness will work but will ned to add wires for CYP (on exhaust cam side) sensor.
-Si ecu will work but both 88-89 teg or JDm ZC would be better choices
-injectores will work as well as Si intake mani but a ZC one would be better.
-If you need a complete ZC header give me holla i got one..comlplete and uncut.
-motor ounts are the same check for cracking and dry rot as they do get old.
-no extra wirign for o2..only extra wiring is CYP sensor.

HTH any other questions feel free to drop me an email my1_6@hotmail.com

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I got all the information I should need. Where would be the best places to look for buying the ZC longblock? I've dealt with LKQ for my swaps but they are a large US salvage yard and don't carry JDM motors. A few people have told me to check Nippon, but then I've heard some bad stuff as well.

I thought the wires were to the exhuast cam sensor? Either way its easy. Cut off the Si plug from the wiring harness, and solder the plug from the ZC's wiring harness. Just double check wire color.
Have fun. 12 hrs for mine with a friend from start to end, and I'm a novice at swapping. If you can go from the bottom, so much easier.

I'm in the process of swapping a ZC into my 88 crx si I'm not sure if it's a longblock or not I just thought there was only one ZC engine. Anyway I noticed that the wire harness has to be adapted to the stock configuration and also noticed that I'll need to change the downpipe to accomodate the stock ZC 4into2 header. Does anyone know where I can get a down pipe to fit my stock ZC header? thanks..

Depending on what part of west virginia you are in either go to evans honda in Newport, TN or Import Auto Salvage. I got mine from Evans and it was a really good experience. Everything was on the block, even the clutch, pp, flywheel, and the cut harness. For the swap just change wiring harnesses. Put the CRX's onto the ZC and you'll be fine. o2 is in the same spot. If you don't get a downpipe, which you prob won't, just get a CRX aftermarket header and port it a little bit. Thats about it. Theres a few sites which you can find easily dealing totally with this swap. If you've done an LS, the ZC should be easy.

What would be the average cost of a full ZC longblock? I was thinking somewhere around the $400-500 range. I still haven't been able to find any ZC motors or anything. I'm only interested in a longblock because, for one thing it's not my car and the other my friend wants to use all the parts from his Si that he can. I've tried numerous places and everyone is only carrying 1st gen B16's and up.
Where did most of you get your motor from? Lil Cs Zc, what did you think of the quality of the motor that you bought from Nippon? Were you able to buy just the motor or was it a full swap?
