Default clutch problem, need advice

hi guys
i'm super pissed off... last night i went to this awesome secret beach spot but it was kinda hard to get there and there was this steep road that just ended all of a sudden. so i couldnt turn around, all i could do is back out. this road was STEEEEEP. i held the e-brake and slowly started backing out but it was impossible not to ride the clutch, so i rode it for a little bit and then finally released it but it was still slipping a bit. it started to smell really bad and now my clutch so a lot softer than before.
did i wear out my clutch? how come it's so easy to wear it out? i had to back out only for about 10 meters, maybe even less. the clutch still works ok, but it's way softer than before. now i can pretty much drop the clutch in any gear, before i would have to feather it off. to fix it do i need to get a new clutch? is there anything else i can do? my car is only about 6 months old. how much is a new clutch? has this happened to anyone before?
thanx alot

You definately were buring up your clutch when you were riding it. Especialy if you smell it afterwards. Depending on how bad you wore it down will determine if you need to replace it or not. If you shift and accelerate and it still grabs you should be fine. If you accelerate and the rpms move up and your car doesnt go anywhere then your clutch is slipping pretty bad and you would have to replace it. Also depends how hard you drive your car.

well, it could have been low on fluid, maybe you just sucked air into the clutch line cuz of the steep hill. I would try bleeding the clutch first, and if that doesn't work then start saving for a new clutch!

I don't know what install is worth, I did it myself last time. The clutch itself goes for 300-400 for a kick *** one.

As for bleeding it, it's just like the brakes. have an assistant pump up the clutch a few times and then still holding the clutch pedal(with a hose on the bleed nipple) open the bleed nipple and let it drain out. Tighten the nipple and have the assistant pump again. repeat this process a few dozen times and you should be all done.
Be sure to hold the clutch pedal down when you have the nipple open, otherwise you will suck in air. Also make sure the clutch fluid resovoir never runs out.
Don't let brake fluid get on your paint either. It kills paint in minutes.

You were little low on fluid, and at a steep angle the clutch resivor was low leaving a lack of fluid - burning the clutch even more when you held it engaged - sucks...
