Default Help a girl with a regular old honda civic out!!!!

Hey there...

I don't have a high performance engine or anything special on my car, but I do have a problem and hoped one of you wonderfully knowledgable guys could help with. Why can't I find the place to put tranny fluid in my engine?? I see two areas to place fluid near the firewall but they are both labeled brake fluid. Please help!!!!! By the way, I have a 95' Civic

There are two places where you can fill your transmission:

1.) is to remove the speed sensor, and pour it in there using a funnel

2.) there is a bolt on the side of the transmission, which you can remove and pump in the fluid.

Neither are labeled.

it's it's a manual transmission, make sure to use Honda MTF.

THANK YOU DAVE... I really appreciate your help. And they are not labeled cause I've been trying to find them. Is the speed sensor easy to find and remove? I kinda need to do it myself and was hoping it would be easy.

yah know if a guy made a post like this it would be flamed to the point of no return.....

Anyway, it's easier to pull the check bolt in the side and use a funnel with a hose attached to it IMO.
that is if you have a manual trans, auto trans is different.

If it's an automatic there's a dipstick below the air intake tube, it can be filled there.

if you look above the drain bolt a little closer to the back of the tranny there is a big 17mm nut. that is the fill plug.

Do you have a manual or automatic transmission?

I'd suggest using the actual fill bolt on the side, as it also acts as a level indicator. If fluid spills out, you put too much in. Fill the tranny on level ground though.

Corrie, have you figured out where the drain & fill plugs are? Drain is directly below the right-side axle; it's got a square hole where you use a socket-wrench handle without any socket. Fill is about at the same elevation as the axle, but behind it. The fill plug uses a regular wrench (maybe 17mm?), but it's bigger than all the other bolts which hold the tranny case together.
