why is it slow
the car is a 91 crx. The motor is a jdm b18c type r. it has an rsr header with a full 2.5" exhaust, and a full msd ignition, with rc injectors 280's i think. The clutch is a 6 puck act. heres my times.

this was on drag radials with almost no spinning. I dont understand why this thing isnt in the 13's like i hear it should be. The trannys tag is gone so i dont know which one it is. it does top out pretty low somewhere a little over 100mph, and onthe highway at 80mph its at 5000 rpm. . another twist is that last time i ran i had 1200lbs. of tools in the back of the car, yes really 1200. its now empty and my 1/4 is only one tenth better. I think the tranny is holding me back, any ideas?
much appreciated

Good MPH. Learn to shift a bit better and launch hard. 2.4 second is bad. I hit 2.2 with my stock prelude. Launch a little higher, get the radial nice and hot before you launch too to help you out. Shift fast and I'm sure it will reduce itself by a few 10ths. It's kinda hard to help you out without being there to see what's up.

no dude, you're spinning.
practice and those times will get better.
is that motor even tuned? the whole slip looks like a B16 timeslip. (or worse)

Yea you had to be spinning, here are the slips from my first time at the tracka nd I had horrible traction on street tires, this is a B18b CRX...I need practice but your car should be a lot faster

I dunno man, it really sounds about right minus sharpening your driving skills.

Launching is the most crutial part of dragging, outside of having a quick shift. How do you think people take D16A6 to hit a 15.0? They got amazing suspension setups and they just got the skills to propel a 108hp engine into some fast times. My brother (amature drag racer) thought me alot about launching, shifting and warming up tires. All those are the most important thing in racing.
But you have to take in the account of the condition of the track. Maybe they didn't glue it and you where just slipping like crazy. Causing a bad 60ft but an amazing mph.

Back in the day I dragged my old setup. It was B16 with CTR pistons, and cams, JDM ITR header, ran exact same times. I spun all through 1st, and halfway through second, if I babied it it would bog and do the same time. I was using Sumitomo HTZs they suck. With drag radials you should be able to get a 2 to possibly a sub 2 60ft. An open diff sucks too. Do you have an LSD?
why is it slow you ask? engines are not like toys all though the box says they do everything even karate chop. you have to no how to play with them. learn how to drive then it wont be slow. just cuz you have certain bolt-ons doesnt mean you'll get better times if you drive like ****. just practice and you'll get better.
also, going by the rule of 100 lbs = .1 from ur 1/4 mile time, .... 1200lbs = 1.2 seconds, so thats like 14.6-1.2 = 13.4. Why would u race with tools anyway? LoL, work on ur launches, take out the tools and give it another shot.
wow i just ran mine got 14.25 at 106 with 2.5 60ft
start like a normal start on the street burn out then shift burnem off shift burn for a few feet then hook and pull
street tires
then 22 8 15s mts heated em up [first time on the track with my car and slicks]
1.9 60ft 13.76 and 104
then 1.98 60ft and 13.25 and 106.87
clutch was having issues or at least starting too

Thanks...... Well I wasn't taking into consideration the bolt-ons for my expected time. I was considering what most people do with a stock type r crx. Also the only reason i posted is because i have been practicing and im not getting far. this run actually felt great i heated the **** out of the radials and spinning was definately at a minimum. the shifts were also felt very good and fast.

I was launching between 5 and 6k, slipping the clutch slightly and when the spinning stopped i was around 5000rpm still in 1st and 2nd doesnt spin at all. Should i still try launching higher? Thank you much the advice is appreciated.

As i said this time i DID NOT have the tools, and i could only drop the time one tenth, and the 60 ft stayed the same. and i cant tell you why i had them in there before, it was stupid.
and No i do not have lsd. This was at cecil county. i really appreciate all the replys and advice. Any ideas on a better way to try launching for the better 60
thank you, thank you, thank you.

Launch at around 6.5K. I launch my prelude at 6.4K and it got me a few 2.2, even a 2.1 after I got the RA1 real hot haha. Are you burning up the radial before the drag? They only work good hot. If that are not hot they will just spin and not make a noise. You are probably spinning all of first, some of second, just becuase you don't hear it, doesn't mean it aint happening.
Do you have LSD? It would help alot.
Practice makes perfect. Keep going to the track, practice launching and shifting, don't worry about your time or delayed reaction, practice launching and getting a good 60ft, don't matter if you wait 2 seconds until after the light goes green. When it's jsut a test and tune, they don't add the reaction time to your 1/4 mile (adleast not the ones I go to). After you get your launching and your shifting down good, work on nailing the reaction time.

ok here is a fact.
A decent 60' time with that motor and drag radials is around a 1.8 or a 2.0
Once you get that down this will reduce your ET by either 4 or 6 tenths, hence you would be running a 14 flat or a 14.2, which is right where you should be.
Improve your shifting speed and clutch work and you're in the 13's
problem solved...

im searching for instructions on preloading a clutch and the only one i can find is not very helpful. if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Update!!! Went to cecil county dragway again last night. My launches and times got progressively better each time. after 16 runs my 60' is down to 2.25. 1/4 is down to 13.92 and trap is up to 101mph. I started to notice some things about the clutch and throttle at the launch, that im working on and is really helping the times. Just want to say thanks for the constructive criticism. I'm going to keep working on this to get the 60' to at least a 2.00
Ride the clutch out. Don't dump it. Riding it out will spin the tires a little less, and in my car, makes a launch another smoother and it got my 60' down from 2.5 to 2.3. But that's on a SOHC ZC. With the prelude when I rode it a tiny bit at launch it got me .1 better on my 60' and .2 better on my ET. MPH was the same tho.

like ludesrv said you need to feather the clutch when ur launching... this is different than preloading it though...preloading is when you start to mildly engage your clutch while still standing still..when your staged yank up your ebrake as high as you can...rev your **** to however high your gonna launch at and barely let off the clutch till you feel the car wanting to go forward...when the light drops push the ebrake back down and feather the clutch off the line...this takes a lot of stress off of your drive train because their is much less of a "shock"factor to your components...you will notice better tranny and axle life...but feathering your clutch will decrease clutch life...
and damn 16 runs in a night...i need to go where your at...ill be lucky to get 3 runs in at fontana
