Default Oil pan gasket replacement

Just recently the oil pan gasket began to leak from the side the transmission connects with so i pulled the thin metal plate that covers the exposed part of the flywheel and a oil pan bolt drops out. The other bolt/nuts around it were also loose, so i tightend them back up and plan on replacing it next time i change to oil since the oil was changed recently. The question is, anyone else have this problem and i was just seeing if putting threadlock on the nuts and blots before installing the new gasket will help, because the torque spec is not really that tight (8.7 ft/lbs). I was just seeing if anyone else had this problem and tried using threadlocker.

Couldn't hurt don't forget to not use sealant on the gasket ...common misconception

^^ i agree with him.. i also only have mines torqued down @ 8.7 ft/lbs. and it hasn't been leaking for a year now since i last changed my gasket.. there's also a certain order to tighten down the bolts to get an even seal and not distort the gasket
