Default Carsound Cat Test Pipe Which One On Type R ?

I have a JDM Spoon 4--2-1 Header and Mugen Twin Loop Exhaust and would like to bolt on again on my Type R. Will I loose Whole lot of Torque If I Connect these with OMNI TEST PIPE ? Anyone has experience ? I daily drive my car and go Autocross. OR ANYONE using Carsound Cat w/ 2.5 Collector owner here ? Appreciate for your words...

I was hoping I could actually find out something from this post. But I'm the first reply.

My current setup is hytech header, 2.5" carsound cat, type-r b-pipe, spoon n1 axleback.

I just got a omni testpipe myself to try it out, but from before, usually the car was more torque like under low rpm's like from clutch engagement to a few thousand rpm's with the carsound cat. Then when i put the test pipe on, it felt like I had to give it more gas to leave from a stand still the same as before, but it's a lot smoother at engagement and at full throttle. I guess there was a slight power addition but nothing I remember as major.

Keep in mind that this test pipe experience was with a jdm itr header. So now I have a test pipe I'll be putting on the hytech just to see what it's like and I guess I'll get back to you. I'll be retuning so I'm waiting till we get the wideband hooked up before I slap it on.

As far so other reasons, most people say test pipes are bad, kill the trees, make your car smell, can get you pulled over, etc which is all true. But so does every other part on the car Only reason I took it off before and went back to the cat is that the exhaust gets a little louder and can get a little raspy which I hate if the test pipe is not resonated. Also it seemed like I was loosing gas milage, though most say the milage is the same and it's probably just a result of being more aggressive with the car because it's so much smoother now.

But it's not bad. I'll update you after the new omni pipe is put on and retuned (mainly because of a new intake I'm going with as well). It'll be a street tune so no dyno numbers or anything. So nothing but what I think

felt no difference between JDM cat and test pipe. Not much sound or smell difference either...

Honestly, the improvement won't be noticable. DDs need cats to keep the police away

Here's some info and cat testing

What model Carsound is that, because all carsounds aren't created equal?

With that test pipe you'll need to secure those slip joints from what I've heard.

Carsound sucks a$$!

Don't buy one. I have gone through like 3 of them. They fall apart.

Just buy the Honda Renault Catalytic converter from http://www.hytechexhaust.com/ if you really want a working high flow cat.

Otherwise don't waste the money; your wallet will thank you :-)

Mine has fallen apart twice and didn't take long to do so either. I just punched the rest of the stuff out and now have a "resonated test pipe" that looks just like a cat. We don't have emissions testing here so its no big deal for being legal. Inspections are usually just a visual check that you have a cat in place.

The Renault cat that John at HyTech sells is very very nice.

Aren't you going to have a problem with emissions in CA with the Omnipower TP?

Do a highflow cat.....the risk is not worth the reward........first of all the test pipe will stink like **** and most likely you will have to drive with the windows down most of the time......and girls will never ride in your car.

Secondly the ticket for a testpipe is upwards of $1000 dollars.....yep you read that right.

In California we have the toughest smog emissions out of all the states and they will not hesitate to look under your car and write you that ticket.....especially when they can smell you from far away and can see the fumes coming out of the tail pipe.

oh well...i guess the cat is the choice for now...overall may be I'm afraid of loosing low end torque.

If you're worried about it blocking flow then just get a good one like the one HyTech sells. The Carsound will inevitably fall apart and likely clog your exhaust leaving you stranded (happened to me).
