Just recently my battery went dead on my 2000 crv. I had a new one in with no problem, but the cd players anti Theft kicked in, so I have to insert a 5 digit code in order for it to work again. The problem is that i bought the crv used off of honda, and the previous owners held onto the code for the anti theft. I went into honda and they didnt have my code on records so he told me to go out and put the ignition on 1, and press 1 and 6 on the cd player at the same time and press on the power. That should have displayed my cd players serial number, which is now what i need in order to find the code... but with my luck there was nothing but the stupid code display still. i disconected the battery again to start fresh (making sure nothing was screwed up from last time) and i still have nothing. Can I try somthing elese before i say the hell with it and go buy a after market cd deck?

 

Yeah, I figured that. Do you have any links to a step by step instruction to getting the cd player out?, I went into honda today and they said that they were going to charge me 71 dollars in labor to take it out. I already found a link for a 98 CRV but its pretty brief and i didnt want to fool around too much without knowing what i was doing.

if you have the "code" flashing on your head unit, you can try this...with your motor running, turn off your radio. hold the "1" AND "6" buttons on your unit, and while holding those two buttons, turn on your unit. it should flash your serial number...if not, then try looking in your owner's manual, or inside your glove compartment. if its not there, look on the outside of your glove compartment (while its open of course). or look at the little coin holder thingy under the steering wheel or in the fuse panel under the steering wheel. basically, look in all your compartments to check to see if anyone left a sticker of the serial number on it. if all else fails, here's the link to how to remove your head unit: http://hondasuv.com/pdf/crv/fi...x.pdf

I have an aftermarket cd player mounted in the stock location with the screws just how the OEM Honda cd player was mounted. I just pull on the din sized plastic tray/pocket underneath my cd player and it pulls out the whole panel with the radio/climate control. Just pull it slowly, I think its easier than trying to pry the panel off, the tabs are somewhat delicate. The plastic thing is is attached to the whole panel in my CRV, I dont know if yours is.

 

yeah thanks for your help every one. I went ahead and hauld the cd player out and got the code off the top of the deck. No problems from honda to get the code afterwords. Thanks a million!

Go to the dealership and obtain your code, providing that you can provide the credentials. The OP went to honda...
