sudden fuel cut?
Yesterday I was driving home, and all of a sudden I just lost all power. I thought my transmission had gone out, tried to put it in second again, saw the revs go up for a moment, then nothing, then engine was dead (probably took 2 seconds or so between not having power and trying to get it in 2nd again). There were no odd sounds, no odd smells, the timing belt is fine, all my fuses are fine, the oil is full and clean, and there was no lack of power before that split second.
I coasted into a parking lot, checked the oil, cranked it, and it just turned over and didn't start. The check engine light was on and wouldn't blink, even when checking for a code. I swapped out the ecu for my spare one, and nothing changed. I depressurized my fuel system (there was no pressure though) and opened up the service port on my fuel rail, and it was dry. I closed it, went back in and noticed my main relay wasn't clicking over.
Towed it home, checked fuses, checked the main relay (fine) and checked voltage on all of the leads of the main relay. The only lead getting power out of the 4 (I think) that should be was one lead from the ignition. I jumped that to the lead out to the fuel pump and the fuel pump primed.
So after all that, it must be that the main relay isn't getting the power it needs to close that circuit, so what could be keeping those other 3 leads from sending power to the main relay, when all my fuses are good, and so is my ECU?
