Default could not running a secondary 02 sensor make the rev limit lower?

I'm running a pr3 ecu and the secondary 02 sensor is not hooked up. I was told by a shop that this could cause my ecu to redline at 7k like it is now. I didn't want to challenge the mechanic but I thought the 02 only works on closed loop therefore not affecting the car during WOT where theres already predetermined fuel maps. Can someone clarify this please?

The secondary oxygen sensor has zero affect on your rev limiter. All it will do it trip your CEL. Your primary O2 sensor won't even affect your limiter. All it will do is run you a little rich.

If the ECU is getting no O2 signal, it may trigger a CEL and go into "limp home mode". Typically the RPMs are limited by the ECU and/or VTEC may not engage when it is in this mode.
