Thinkin bout getting an RSX
Hey whats up all? Right now I have a 97 Civic EX and Im looking into getting a new car. Ive looked at a few different cars but recently started lookin into the RSX. Ive always loved these cars, but never thought I'd ever consider owning one. Soo, for all you RSX owners, tell me.. what do you love about your car? How fun is it to drive, and how reliable is it?? Also, how much does insurance run on em? These cars are bad *** lookin and I would love to own one, so let me know exactly why I should own one!
Well if your thinking of getting one you gotta get it soon cause its the last year for the RSX
..
I personally love my Type S. I've had it since March and no problems yet (knock on wood)...
I have heard of problems with em that many people complain about the major on is the 2nd gear grind....thank god I don't have that problem.....

I have a 2002 Type S and I love it. I have 79,000 miles on it and have not had any major problems with it at all. The 2006's are different than the 2002's though. It is definitely fun to drive. It's high strung, redlining at 8K! If you drive one, you'll definitely want one. If you don't get one this year, you'll have to settle for a used one after that.
I think a 2002 rsx-s is a good buy right now. A dcent car with a lot of potential for very little cash. Insurance on them is a bitch though. I have been looking into a new car recently and insurance is always cheaper.
I think that very soon the rsx will be the same way the itr and gsr were a few years ago. These engines are going to be swapped into older civics and tegs.
Like all hondas, not a lot of low end TQ. I know the honda fans are going to get on me, but in order to get anywhere fast you are going to have to rev the motor near 8K

mmm 8k..
mmm 8k..
Go for it. The possibilities are endless with the motor. Plus it is a Honda after all and the damn things will run forever if you maintain them. I have an '03 and love it.

I love my car. It's ... decently fun to drive. Would be more fun if it had suspension work.
Reliable? Oh yeah. It's a Honda.
Insurance? When I was listed as a main driver, it ran an extra $2.5k a year on my parent's policy - and I'm a girl, plus the discount they give to honor students.
Badass looking?.... Well, not REALLY. They're pretty, that's for sure, but not... badass. At one point, I remember my dad looking at it and saying, "...sure is a nice, pretty, ladylike car for girls." But hey, lots of guys drive 'em, and lots of guys drive Miatas, so... :D

I own an 03 so I've had some time to see the good, the bad, and the ugly. Overall it is a solid car. My favorite part would be the engine and its potential for greatness. It's just a solid machine, Honda engines are reliable as I'm sure you know. The one part I normally tell other RSX owners to upgrade is the suspension.
Not that it is weak, but it still has room for improvements. A strut/spring or coilover upgrade does amazing things to the handeling of the car. Stiffen up the chassis some more with strut bars, sway bars, and even x-braces and its like you're in a WRX, on rails.
Power, like i mentioned before, the engine is still untapped in its potential, but shops and companies are working hard to push it. I myself have stock internals and am running 10psi of boost with no problems (other than the usual turbo issues).
The only issue I've had has been with the transmission. That is the 3rd gear grind that is present in the 03-04 models (2nd gear for the 02 models). Where you sometimes have to double clutch to get the shifter in gear. Real pain in the *** when racing and you grind out a gear. The problem occurs in newer models too from what I hear, but not as bad. My girlfriend has the new Si and she has the 3rd gear grind as well.
My last complaint is just to complain... FWD.. no drifting here.

rsx is a nice daily driver car, is not really a fast car if thats what you looking for.
Insurance is pretty high for an rsx, i pay 340 a month under my moms name

I don't know why all these people are paying so much for their insurance, but I have a brand new 2006 RSX-S and I'm paying $160/Mo. for full insurance.
It's under myself only - and I'm 23 Yrs. old in Oregon.
As for the car -- I love it. I switched from a 97 prelude - and immediately feel the difference in power. I don't regret anything
