Default Modified B16 Shift Linkage VS Hasport Shift Linkage

I am presented with a choice here for my shift linkage which will go onto my B16'ed CRX.

I can either have the shift linkage that comes with the shop modified to fit, or I can spend an extra hundred dollars to get the Hasport linkage.

My question is, will I notice the difference between the welded stock linkage vs the Hasport linkage? and is the Hasport linkage worth it.

the hasport probably won't bang around on your exhaust? I don't know if you are a good welder it shouldn't make a difference. Just don't do what i did, and weld the torque rod to the shifting rod> DOH! I was only 18 didn't know wtf i was doing.
Oh and to strengthen the rods. Put a piece of good steel rod in the hollow rod where you cut the piece. Actually have the rod INSIDE the shfiter and torque rods, it's holds for a better weld and it's damn near unbreakable. You can imgine how hard it was to fix my mistake.

You didn't do it well then.

I've had both and both work. Question is do you want to do little extra work or spend little extra money.

It's not hard to do it correctly and here is a link;

http://www.performanceforum.co....html

Burly's idea of having a rod inside the stock tube is a good one, but I'm sure it's a requirement (sure couldn't hurt!!).

Only use the Hasport linkage if you have an engine mount kit that places the engine and transmission EXACTLY where Hasport puts it.

If you are not buying the mounts and linkage together I'm not sure HaSport will sell just the linkage.

"Custom Shift linkage for the B-seies swaps in the 88-91 Civic/CRX. Currently only available with the purchase of either the EFB1 or EFB2 mount kits.
"

However http://www.azracemachine.com/p...e.htm sells just the linkage. And it is a little cheaper in price. They also make a quality product.

There's nothing wrong with modified shift linkages. In fact, they don't even need to be welded. Just get some .75 inch bar stock. It fits PERFECTLY inside the tubes. Using bar stock also means that when you cut the linkages, you don't need to get the length perfect. Too short is no problem. And, as I said before, you don't need to weld. You can simply fasten everything together with 8mm bolts.

Just weld it. If you cut the linkage and go to home depot and get some conduit that fits right inside the linkage. Then measure it up on the car then weld. I've done that on a lot of my cars with no problems and a stock feel.

Cut and weld that is really all a Hasport link is. I remember talking to Joe (Locash) at the runoffs one year, and he was talking about how Corporate Acura called their dealler because they couldn't understand why they were ordering so many 90-93 Integra shift linkages. They thought there was a problem with them.
