i just installed a new crossmember made by innovative mounts. i have the crossmember with the front motor mount so it hangs lower than the innovative crossmember without the front motor mount. look at the picture on innovatived website: http://www.innovativemounts.co...tid=3. i want to know if anyone has any first hand knowledge about problems or damage that has occured from this bar hanging so low. i just put it on my project car and noticed how low it hung and my project car wont be on the road anytime soon. so i cant test it myself. my project car is an 89 crx hf. i will try to get a picture up.
I run the crossmember, the one you use your stock radius rods in correct? I dont ahve the tranny mount hooked up though because of my radiator/fan setup is huge.
I am lowered on D2 Racing Coilovers, and have no problems, maybe though because I angle out of many places? It does hang a bit low, but not quite below my bumper. So I have had NO problems with it at all, love it infact

i read that thread already. the guy that started that thread has a himount design. i have the low mount design. so i wanted to know specific problems with the low mount (replacement crossmember). plus that thread does not answer my question and it does not have main point, people are just posting random comments.
well i have that same crossmember the only draw back is that you scrape it every so often on the dips but other than that i love them. I guess i am just use to driving my car with it. You will get use to it.
My brother has one on his car. and its a little low if your car is slammed but its still higher then the oil pan and if i were to bottom out i would reather hit the x-mem then my motor. also that is as high as it can be inorder to fit a 92+ radiator. I saw their new Drag bar the other day. NICE UNIT
I had it on my rex and hit a small bump with metal plates going 10mph. It totalled my car. Bent the hell out of my frame and jacked up my $550 header.
I wasn't even that low.

What in the heck is a small bump with metal plates?? That whole little scenario sounds fishy. If you were only doing 10mph...how did you total your car?
I'm sorry but for people using this bar, common sense is to raise the front a little. If you are slammed, simply raise it. beyondspexj uses one and his is much lower than mine and his barely touches. I'm on Eibach's and the only time mine scrapes is if I come straight out my driveway instead of angled. You learn how to drive and take dips with it once you get it on.

You can see mine here. It sits lower than my pan and downpipe. (and I'm almost eyelevel with it to take this pic) I actually checked it for scrapes last night since my car is on stands right now...there were none that were even worth mentioning.

Then again, if you are already running a B-series motor, then you probably are used to driving with something that hangs low and can easily scrape.

This is true.
People just see the bar and say it's too low, but in reality it's not. If you have a B series and a 4-1 header, the header will sit just as low if not lower than the IM bar (depending on the brand). Even my old Megan 4-2-1 on my old B sat almost as low as the bar (and it got owned by pottholes a few times before it was removed)
thanks
