Default Questions/ideas about bone yard boost (G23) .. cheaper the better.

Ok, for as long as they've been around I've been following the F/H hybrid threads ..

I have a question though .. I'm not well versed in Turbos but the idea of making a super cheap, reliable enough engine that can put down 250+ whp is enticing ..

So what if a person was to put an F23 block with H23 head (I don't see the value in vtec if the redline is 6500k stock) but my real question of something I read before quite some time ago, there was a DSM Turbo and Mani that had the same manifold pattern as the H23 .. something about having to shave off some of the aluminum in from the transmission housing to make it fit. I hadn't read anybody successfully doing this mostly from lack of interest..

Does anybody have any ideas on making the cheapest possible boosted engine using a hybrid of parts from all over or any info on why it would/wouldn't work above?

I would use the F22A. F23 has a little more displacemnt but the F22A is cheaper and more plentiful and the the sleeves have thicker iron. If you are going to turbo it I would just keep the F22A head and throw on a Delta cam regrind and a DSM turbo. Cheap and torquey

I have an aftermarket DSM manifold on my H23.. you have to redrill a few bolt holes, and deal with the gasket as well.. its cheap, but its almost not worth it, having to track down exhaust leaks..

I ended up having to buy a Mr. Gasket copper gasket, and trimming the bolt holes on that with a dremel sucked..

its all good now, no leaks..

This will answer all your questions. I agree with pirate on the f22. Nice iron sleeves. You would need a a custom manifold though. i dont believe any dsm manifolds will bolt to the F/H series.

Wow, finally someone who doesn't think they have to get an H22.

F22 or G23 turbo sounds like an awesome idea! My vote for the F22 since you really won't have to tear it open, and it's inexpensive and easy to replace.
