Anyone with over 100k miles on their Teg running Synthetic oil?
Anyone on this board with over 100,000 miles running synthetic oil? Have you experience any problems? Was it little or more the result of the synthetic oil?
I got my last oil change with Pennzoil synthetic.
However my car has 110k miles. I think it's past the point of any major benefits from switching to synthetic.......

Go for it. It'll burn a bit quicker than dino oil, but that's not really an issue if you check your oil level often.
I just switched to Mobil 1 synthetic at about 99K miles, and so far no problems. It was burning a very small amount of oil before, and it's still burning a very small amount of oil. Not noticeably worse though. I'm also getting significantly better gas mileage but I've also made some timing and air pressure adjustments so it's probably unrelated. Anyway, I very happy with synthetic.

I switched to Mobil1 at about 92K and have been on it for the past 18K miles. My car burns zero oil from what I can tell, just leaks a tiny bit past the cam seal (not enough to register a level drop on the dipstick). My car definitely runs cooler.
I use Valvoline full synthetic on my car w/ almost 116K. It seems to be leaking from the cam seal (common problem), but I am getting that fixed soon anyway when I get a valve adjustment. I don't seem to be burning any oil, at least when I floor it, it doesn't smoke, but I had a perfect compression and leakdown test, so that is probably why. Try it and keep an eye on the oil level and have a friend follow you to see if it smoke when you floor it just for fun.

Mileage is in my sig..... I go throught between 1/2 quart and 1 1/2 quarts every 3000 miles using Mobil1. I will not be using the new 'formula' of Mobil1 anymore though.

i have used mobil 1 since day one...actually day two, when i got it home from the dealer. the next day i switched to mobil 1 already.
no problem whatsoever...i had recently had it dynoed at importbuilders and Jeff told me it still runs very good!
i am very satisfied with it

I almost always run mobil 1 in the car, however for the past 2000 miles Ive been running GTX 5-w30. I don't notice any performance difference between the two, and as for longivity, my dad ran GTX in two of his audi 5000s back in the day, one of which when he sold it had over 270k miles without even having the head off. Therefore the verdict on added longivity is still out for me, but I will run synthetic 95% of the time just for added piece of mind. And no, besides cost, I have had zero problems with synthetic.
I have a 93ls and have ran synthetic from 111,000 to now (166,000) and no probs except burns about a quart on average per 3,000 mi. Burns more or less depending on how much I dog it. But I have ragged the crap out of this motor since I bought it with 111,000 mi.'s so your motor may burn less. I did notice it seemed a little more powerful, but I also put full synthetic in the tranny too. And even though i've treated it like complete crap it still runs very well.
I have 162,000 miles on my car. I use Castrol Syntec and I only lose about a half quart between oil changes. Not to mention, some of this is due to a leaking oil pan gasket. So as soon as I change that, it will be a little better.
I have 129,000 miles on my 1994 GSR and I put Mobil 1 synthetic since 103,000 miles. I used Mobil 1 for a few oil changes and then switched to Valvoline Max life for older engines and had that for a few oil changes too. Now I'm using Valvoline Synthetic. When I had Mobil 1 I did burn a little oil and had to fill it up every now and then. With Max Life I don't recall ever having to top it off. Now with Valvoline synthetic, I've been running it for the past few weeks and so far haven't burned any oil.
for guys that are burning oil, what weight are you using? if you're using 5w-30, try switching to 10w-30 and see if it helps. don't do this, of course, if you are in an area that gets so cold that you need the 5w-30 coverage.
5w-30 seems to blow by the rings easier and the 10w-30 seems just enough to stop the problem.
just trying to help.

yeah 10w-30 is thicker and will help with the loss of oil, also it's supposed to make the engine run a little quieter. BUT the downsides are a small decrease in gas mileage. This is what I've heard about 10w-30 oil
On my next oil change I will test to see if it really does help
