Default map sensor by pass????problems running

i have an 88 hf with a si engine (d16a6). idles fine. i believe it has the wrong map sensor, when i go down the road and when i floor it in first it builds up then boom cuts off for like 2 sec. , but it feels like i shut the key off or somethin, so i leave it floored then boom its back on and keeps goin, when rpms are really high usually wont do it. any thoughts on a fix?, can i just by-pass the map sensor or go find another one, also no error codes on the ecu.

I would not bypass the map.

Anyway, when you first hit the gas it hesitates/bogs? You're using the d16a6 intake manifold/injectors, right?

It should be a pm6, if you dunno it's on the floor under the carpet on the passenger side.

The reason I keep bugging you about the injectors is because if you're using the hf injectors they might be too small, causing that kind of bogging. I had small injectors in my car for a day before I corrected my ecu and It'd bog for a few seconds and then go.

Take off the ECU kick panel cover, and stamped on the ecu on the outside somewhere it should say PM6 in nice visible letters.

it has 37820-pm6-a09 on the little bar code on the side of the ecu, but the car bogged with the injectors that were in it and with the integra injectors.

The HF was MPFI, only the CRX DX had DPFI.

That's the right ecu, so it must be something else.

Yup, so you are using the correct ECU. Do you know what your ignition timing is set at? If it is off it can cause a bogging sensation in different places in the rpm band.

i dont know the timing, but when it does start to mess up by bogging i can cut the key off, then back on and it will fix it.then a few min. latter it does it again. , could it be the map sensor i mean i know the si had 2 vaccum hoses for the map then the one i have has 4 .so i have 2 extra that cant go anywhere. but still no codes on ecu.

sound like it might be starving for fuel. Have you checked your mail relay , mabe your fuel pump is on the fritz. if youve got the right ecu and proper injectors it might be the fuel pump or relay. Also did it just start this or has it been doing it since the swap ? This is important as well.

is your check engine light on? is the ECU showing any codes? (red LED on top of ECU will be flashing if codes are present) are all vacuum lines correct? all 88-91 CRX/Civics use the same MAP sensor - the MAP sensor has one vacuum line on both HF and Si - it runs from the port on the throttle body that points toward the passenger side and is closest to the front of the car - the other port next to it is for the purge system and should have a hose running to the purge canister on the passenger side fender well

You know I had the same problem with a single cam car I did something really stupid and put the dist in wrong they say honda dist can only go in one way but this car it went in wrong and broke the control mod in the dist and it would run fin then like **** now my map sensor went bad on my integra but it just ran really rich and back fired alot so anyone of those thing could be your problem but i could be wrong good luck!

you would probably have a CEL for this, but it sounds like your oxygen sensor may be takin a **** on you, if your ecu isn't gettin any signal from your oxygen sensor, it can do that, make your car bog real bad at lower rpms and go away if your cut the igntion and restart the car
