Default Close the deck or post it?

I was just wondering who (if any) has done either of these mods.
My friend and I are going to be building a Endyn boosted A6 and are either going to close the deck or post the block. I have heard that when you close the deck, you loose some cooling capacity right where you need it most. I don't know a whole lot about posting but would like to know more.

If anyone has something to add, feel free.

Did you just tap it in/on or did you have a shop fit it and then weld it?

I tapped it in and honed the cylinders round again.
