96 EX coupe, d16y8, engine stock.
The car feels a little sluggish to me. I just changed cap, rotor, plugs, wires, pcv, and fuel filter.
I checked the mechanical timing marks and everything lines up. When I check the timing with a light at 0* it lines up with the single TDC mark. When I turn the gun to 12* instead of going in the direction of the three timing marks, it goes the other way.
service connector jumped, electrical stuff off, car @ normal temp... whats up?

yah everything done per spec... ive timed a dozen cars before and never had this issue. maybe by gun is messed up, ill try it on another car that I know is good and see what happens.
By 'mechanical timing marks', I guess you mean the camshaft timing??
Move your distributor to bring your spark timing to the center of the 3 marks for stock timing. (That's with the timing gun's dial set to zero.)

When you can't see all of the marks an adjustable is just what the doc ordered. You can also double check for the actual timing (if you are 1 degree off or not)
Like they said with the jumper jumpered and the car warmed up completely and your timing light set to 0 advanced you should see two red marks with one in the middle. It should line up with the arrow on the timing belt cover. If not, you need to adjust the dizzy.

Or maybe on some cars the timing marks aren't quite so clear.
I've only used the non-adjustable kind too.
