Default half shaft install w/o draining fluid?

can i do a halfshaft w/o draining the fluid (ie-jack up one side of the car causing the fluid t collect ont he opposite side of the tranny) or will it come pouring out anyway when i pop the cv out of the tranny?

you could probably get away wih it but why? tranny fluid isnt that expensive and transmissions are. Just go to the dealership and pick up a couple quarts and change it. all you need is a funnel with a bundy extension and its cake, easier than an oil change.

It won't pour out. But if you haven't changed it in awhile why not just drain it and give it some fresh fluid.
