Default customer car finished (almost=). audi a4 1.8t

Here are some pictures of the finished car (just missing the wg dumptube)

short spec list:
fully buildt block
mild ported head w\atp turbo cams
gt2540r turbo
microtech lt10s ecu

I've made the Turbomanifold, downpipe and complete 3" exhaust, intercooler piping and some minor welding here and there.

let me know what you think.

looks pretty sick. i must say that is the first time i have ever seen anybody run that turbo though. every time it was brought up on vortex everybody flamed it because threres such a mismatch in housings and wheel sizes.

the turbo is quite poppular in norway, where i'm from. a lot of the silvias are running it.

had a test run and tune yesterday. (could only run 50% pulls because of problems with the audi tps signal) it doesn't realy start to charge till it reaches 3500-4000rpm, but then it builds pressure in notime. not perfect for max traction, but i think it's going to be a fun car.

it's the same as the one in the picture you posted.

i ment that a lot of the silvias around here upgrade to that turbo. the gt2540.
i think the s14\s14a run a t25 or t28, not sure.

Woah.....those welds are hot as *****

I'm assuming that is stainless right?

What welder and what settings?

Did you half pie cut some of the els to cheat a tighter radius?

There appear to be at least 3 pin holes at the end of welds...that I can see.

One of the runners is a little off where it meets the collector.

I spy at least one cheater cut too.

Post up some more details and maybe we can help improve the next one.

PS this is not a bash. We are just here to help. It's not like any of us woke up one day and could weld Hell I'm only just decent

I agree. It's way too hot. Turn down the amps. It appears to be stainless but we could all be wrong.

it was the first manifold i ever made and i had probably been wellding for 2 months on hobby basis befor i did it so i know the welds aren't perfect. i'm still working on them. i can''t remember the settings. around 70 amps i guess. and it's not stainless.

did a lot of cheating on it, 'cause i only had 6 inch CLR bends to work with. now i get all prebendt and cut 90deg. bends with 2 inch CLR. big diffrence to work with. saves a lot of time.

welder by the way is a CEA matrix 200 ac/dc.

all straights. real easy to work with, a lot of welding but not that bad. and it's cheaper.
i cut them to around 11 deg.

real good for tigth bends on the bigger pipes. 4" pipes w 2,5" CLR is not a problem.
