So I just got my energy suspension mount inserts installed on my crx and now i have this weird problem, which might not have anything at all to do with it, but the background is there anyway.

when driving the car, stepping on the gas makes the shifter move with it slightly. like how the engine rocks back and forth when you press the gas, the shifter rocks with it also.

when the motor (and the shifter) rock back with the gas, something right underneath the shifter hits something metal, which i believe is the exhaust. so something feels loose and not right, but i'm not really sure what to do.

any suggestions? thanks in advance.

 

mine does to i think it is normal.

 

try tighting up the bolts where the shifter rods meet the shifter.

 

check your motor mounts, esp the one on the back side of the engine. also check to make sure the shifter is tight.

 

it hasnt really happened until i put in the motor mount inserts so im wondering if i'm just feeling the effects of it.

regardless, i'll go check on the bolts to the shifter and the rear mount.

regardless, i'll go check on the bolts to the shifter and the rear mount.</TD></TR></TABLE> i had the same problem.. i changed all my engine mounts.. and guess what voila ! back to normal.. most likely there will be a bolt untighted on the back mount. also if you keep using it this way.. it will eventually wear out your axels.. which mine did. so... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you know what to do for hw

 

yeah it definitely doesn't sound safe at all. it feels like the shift linkage is moving with the engine or something and its hitting the exhaust.

it has a really loud pop or bang when i give it some gas and its starting to make me cringe.

thanks for the advice. i'll probably just end up AAA towing the car to the shop since its free anyway.
