Autozone brake pads....
Some one mention they have bought some (autozone, pepboy?) brake pads before with very good result. Anyone remember or know what brand are those? I need a set for the rear mainly for autox and open track events.
Since you
A) have a turbo according to your sig, and
B) want to do track days,
I sure as hell would not use those on the front. On the back will be fine. All the rear does is keep the gas tank from dragging....

Thanks guys, yeah I'm currently running Porterfield pads in the front and think I can get away with it in the REAR with some autozone pads.
I recently stuck a set of Raybestos PG Plus pads in the rear calipers on mine's. Used them for a weekend at VIR, too....not an ounce of problem with them, and they were quite inexpensive, checking out at round-about $30 at Pepe Boyz.
If you have a lightweight, low powered vehicle, you can use Autozone severe/extreme duty (forget which one) pads. They're tough as hell, and they'll last. Not the best stopping brakes, but they wont melt into oblivion on the track and they're cheap. For a 12 second turbo car? I'd be very leery... A friend of mine has a turbo eclipse and he was pushing 130+ on the back straight at Summit Point using street tires during a FATT. I made him buy some P+ before that event...

look into some AEM pads maybe...i'm runnin them in the rear, they seem pretty good (have porterfield R4S up front for street, Carbotech P+ for track), and aren't that expensive...plus, the fit is OEM since they're made by nissin, I had to fuggin dremel down the sides of some god-knows-where pads that were put on my girlfriend's LS right before she got it, they were so tight that they wouldn't contact the rotor unless they were at an angle

I need good pads in the REAR too?? I can lock my tires up if I want to with Porterfield in the front and cheezy pads that I bought from some no name autoparts store in the rear, with stock calipers and rotors. The rear only have 20% or so braking power, right?
yea guys, he's talkin about thr REARS.
i think u should be fine with whatevers in the rear. there was a thread a while back on pads discussing p+ pand on the track and most people were running nothing special in the rers with good ones up front.

I've got about 11 events so far on the $9 Wearever Silver (not even the Gold!!) pads on the back on my SE-R. I might replace them this year....
