Default Stock Rods and High Compression Pistons?

Current setup: eagle rods and type-s pistons

New setup: Stock rods and custom 89mm (12.5.1) pistons

I realize sleeves and rod ends need replacing and machining. My question is about weight and strength of the rods, I kinda think eagle rods are overkill for type-s pistons, both strength and weight wise. How much lighter are stock from eagle and others. Are they strong enough for my proposed setup? Do you guys think its worth it to spring for lighter stonger rods?
