i installed some civic type r pistons in my 98' gsr and yes i know the compression went way up, so my question is...what exactly is the compression ratio?...the pistons are standard size, btw the people that installed it, they lowered my idle, and changed the spark plugs to 7's, and just gave me an advice (put 100 octane from now on...) i was soo pissed they didn't tell me about the compression before, so what size should i get a headgasket to lower compression to run safe on 91 octane?...one more thing...whats the pros and cons of pct's and pr3's on gsr motor? and yes i have searched HT for these questions but i usually hear different answers...so if you have pct's or knows a friend that knows a friend with pct's that can answer these questions, I'll greatly appreciated...thanx
triple layer the headgasket and get it tuned, should be around 11~ c/r according to this:

get it tuned "right" on 93 oct and drop a bottle of octane booster every fill up. It should be fine with that. yes you do need more octane with that kind of compression ,but i have the same thing, CTR's in a gs-r and im running 93 octane. TUNING IS THE KEY
im running 82 mm CTR's in my GSR motor and my compression is around 13:1. i run 91 octane and im tuned with s200. no problems so far at all and i didnt even have to retard my timing

Octane booster doesn't do **** and that isn't a good long term solution. Choose a lower compression stock piston...or an aftermarket forged piston with a compression ratio that will be more friendly with pump gas.

Okay like i stated above get it tuned on 93 with a good tuner and just dump in sum octane booster every fill up or so. I never said said tune it on octane booster.
And where the EXPLETIVE did i say that octane booster is going to boost your octane by sky loads?????? If i gave you that thought then i apologize for my incorrect wording. but just to clear **** up, I ve been running 93+octane booster on my built gsr motor with a 13.1 compression (CTR PISTONS) for over a year and nothing has happened so far. I dont care if it works or not i do it just to have that extra sense that i did all i could before i have to go tearing everything part again.
And i think the OG poster wanted opinions on what to do because he didnt want to go and tear his motor apart again, and i simply gave him an opinion.
I understand where your coming from but Octane booster does change your octane by a very little amount. If the motor wants more octane, give it all you can give it!! before you go tearing **** apart. am i CORRECT????
and by the way i talked to on eof my local tuners and he said that tuning on 93 should be fine as long as it is done correctly

Why are you so defensive?
I am just saying that octane booster isn't a good long term solution because it doesn't work.
It can be tuned for, so why are we even having this discussion?

ok so the octane i cleared up, i should be running atleast 93 octane, i put 91 octane from mobil plus a gallon of toluene
just tryed it and it really really works, but the question is......if i keep fixing my engine like cams and IM and the whole works, will it raise my compression even higher?...and when you guys say "it will be good as long as you tune it" what do you guys mean by that?...like retard timing?, sleeve it?..

no, by tuning we mean. Go to a tuner who can tune hondata, chrome, uberdata, anything to adjust your air fuel ratio, the tuner will also retard or advance. basicaly you strap it on a dyno and make it run "right" by giving it the right amount of fuel, air, etc.
