Default Exhaust Kit, and other related ideas.

I would like to begin with my goals for my car's exhaust system:

Increase power especially low end.
Fix current exhaust leak.
Minimal increase in sound.

Next I will try and say what I think the best plan of action.

There are no local places that can mandrel bend. So instead of driving into the city to find a place I would like to get an exhaust KIT similar to this: http://www.mikekemper.com/elan....html

First question has anyone seen or installed one of these DIY exhaust pipe kits?

Since I would like to focus on the lower end of the powerband I would rather not go too large on the pipe. I was thinking 2.25" because I don't plan on cam's or anything other then an intake, tuning(eventually), and a GOOD header.

This brings me to my next question, which I think I may need to handle off the forum, but does SMSP or RMF mess with making a header more suited to improve the lower end? Or would I be better just welding a larger collector on the OEM header and puting money on tuning sooner?

Anyways thanks for reading all the way through before telling me to search, and call me names and the like.

Matt

You should PM kteller8, or visit his website: http://www.kteller.com/store/. Lots of members use their exhaust piping kits for custom set-ups and configurations. I just recently ordered a 3" SS piping kit from them.

As far as I know all the big 4 that make custom headers for us will size them appropriately for what you want.

Quiet exhausts are certainly possible, mine is back to being quiet despite my SMSP Header/cat combo. Whether they make power or not is of course another issue...

I found this. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=593416&page=2

All the muffler shops I went to totally tried bullshitting me about how crush bending is just as good, and how I have a standard H22A not the H22A1 that makes 210hp... this pipeing will be good for up to 500hp dyno proven ect.

So I really don't want to give these douch bags any money. Is there any way I can use exhaust clamps and worm strap or something the hangers? I don't know anyone that can weld.

Also on the header dump... thats not a winner.

On using 3" exhaust I just don't want to sacrifice low end power. I would prefer to gain low end. I already own a 2-stroke street bike. It satisfys all the powerbands that I would ever need. I just replaced the powerbands and carburator belt on it ftw

3" is to big IMO for NA. I have 2.5 and i love it.

Could he possibly use a V-Band flanges for his exhaust? but i guess that would involve welding too...

crush bending restricts airflow... saying it's good up to 500hp doesn't make sence at all.

RS*R here. 2.35" (60mm) IMO nice and quiet and you get to keep your honda torque w/o compromising high end power losses. RS*R claims 6whp over stock exhaust. (stock header/cat) Flat black- hawtness FTMFW
