A good spot is behind the instrument cluster, well hidden and inaccessible without removing the cluster, easy to hide wiring, wiring is also short as possible, as most connections are on the drivers side. 94

or someone can just disconnect your battery

and would you have time to check a second place?
the alarm going off-people are wakeing up,looking out windows ,ect

if its a good alarm and its hooked up right started kill should be installed so even if its un pluged it wont start

and some one who wants to steal your radio wont worry about un hooking your alarm

Yeah, but who really pays attention to alarms anyways?

well it all depends on the car. I look where all the wires are and then determine where the brain is going to go. on most honda's I put it behind the sterring col. It takes sometime to get it in there because you have to drop the sterring col. but theres a bolt up there that i just remove and mount the brain onto it. Just one warning its a pain to work on it if it something goes wrong.

Im really think about relocating mine above the glove compartment. My Civic is a 92 so it did not come with a P/S airbag. I'm just being lazy right now.

Remind me never to have you install anything in my car...That is absolutely the first place a theif will look if he is tryin to bypass your alarm, which ultimately leads to stealing your ride. Just my 2cents.

Im not going to tell you where exactly im going to mount the brain. I just said behind sterring col. and didnt i mention that the only way to get to the brain is to drop the col? and did I mention what brains fit in that spot? no i didnt not. when i gets down to the bigger brains like the 791 there is not way it will fit back there but the sat. will. thats when i mount the box behind the gauges. Ive had my share of stolen cars so trust me im not going to tell people where i mount the brain and where all the kill swicths are mounted. im a newer installer but I spent countless hours perfecting my alarm installs. Ive searched to find the best ways to install. but hey what ever man take your car to some guys thats going to get your car out in 1 hour. My installs only take the whole day from 8am to about 6pm. So i dont mess around. hey i can get your car out by 4 hours I do it at best buy all the time. but thats me being fast and trying to be clean. dosnt work.

But hey its your car. do whatever you want

OK don't get your panties in a bunch...I'm really glad that you do take pride in your installs. Alot of people now dayz just wanna get the job done and don't care. I have seen some spaghetti work out there. However, an 8 hour alarm install? Thats....well...unheard of. What does your manager at Best Buy think of all that? Where's the productivity in that? How do your customers feel about that? So you do 1 alarm a day? I have roughly 6 years of true install time and my alarm installs would never take me more than 3hrs. I don't mess around either. None of my alarms have ever come back because of install problems and 9 times outa 10 you can't find the brain.
So back to the original topic of discussion, whether you are droppin that nasty old steering column or not, Its still not the ideal place. And I still would never have you do an install on my car....

i mounted my viper brain behind the intrament console, theres enough room and you have access to almost all the wires you need for hookups. there also is grounds around there that are easy to access. it also makes it easy to wire up the main power and the ignition wires, just run them down the plastic around the steering column. have fun tearing the car apart

You must not do any complicated alarm installs.

You wanna try me? Go ahead and tell me how you would wire a (1) spdt relay to activate a trunk release..and with the SAME relay wire it to pop the gas filler door...off of the SAME CHANNEL OUTPUT...but not simultaneously. Please don't get involved with this conversation if all you can do is talk ****...you will only make yourself look stoopid.

Thats cool and all, but thats not what you originally said. You said that it takes you 8 hours to install an alarm at Best Buy while you are working...It's OK, FNG'z are sometimes cocky like that....It's OK...

I'm a former professional installer. When I installed the Viper 791XV into my Civic, it took me three days.

Goddamned cocky people get on my nerves. If you were really as good as you think you are, you wouldn't have something to prove. So close your **** windows and go jerk off to your highschool yearbook crying like a bitch at your mom's house like you always do.

Only cars I've had any luck hiding the brain behind the cluster is on the fifth gen Civic and the Nissan 240SX, and I only really do that if it's remote start or if my favorite spot isn't do-able. Most cars I don't even bother trying to pull the cluster. Too much work. It's easy on the fifth gen. Barely any room back there and requires some plastic cutting. No space for a backup battery or piezo siren.

My favorite spot on nearly any 2 door Japanese car I've ever did a stealth install is under the side plastic next to the driver's side rear passenger. Virtually all your connections come down the running boards. There's plenty of room for a hidden interior siren, battery backup, and modules and relays, and a trunk popper. Only wires you have to run are the ignition, door locks, and hood trigger. Details and pics are on my site which no one has ever heard of. Big waste of time. http://www.vsracing.net/~suspended/

Good stealth install takes about 8 hours. 3 days? Maybe my first time. Maybe if I was only working a couple hours a day, or doing a complete security solution. Kill switches; a ghost switch and a deeply hidden one, reroute or remove hood release cable, slim jim/lock pick proofing the doors, putting a start kill in the engine bay... yeah that together with a stealth install might eat up 3 days.

How much are you charging labor on your side-job stealth installs? I'm charging $300, with discounts for cars that I am partial to.
