speedo cable help!
i just replaced my clutch and now my speedometer wont work. i know the cable isnt broken because i can see it spinning on the cluster side. it just seems like the cable isnt long enough to slide in behind the cluster. im thinking maybe i didnt put the clip in right on the tranny side. maybe some one could let me know how to put the clip in properly or maybe a picture?

in the tranny where the cable goes you got to push it in pretty well without using the clip (dont throw away the clip) . push it in good and then pull the cable into the plastic clip that is suppose to hold the cable in place. so once you have that double check by pushing it in again. drive the car and if still doesn't work then go back the push the cable in again. itll grab, you just gotta play with until you get it.
exactly what the previous guy just sead, i just replaced my speedo cable the other day and it took a little jigling around in the trany to get it to grab without coming back out
i think its in the tranny good becuase i can see it spinning on the cluster side. my problem is getting it in the cluster. its like they made the cable just short enough to not reach.
Here's something that's always worked for me when swapping an engine by my self:
1.- Put your car on jack stands to let your front wheels hang
2.- Turn car on
3.- Shift into 1st if not already there
4.- Give it some gas and go in neutral, get out of the car
5.- Put the cable in slowly untill you hear it click
Shouldn't take more than 2 tries.
BTW if the cable IS all the way in, check the back of the cluster, it might be a lil loose!!
