i dont have a pic , but it is on the back of the tranny. it has 2 hoses coming out of it and a sensor that plugs on top.

Could be moisture on the plug, check for that.

you say everything shifts fine...if you have a manual then the VSS will not effect shifting, it only effects shifting if you have an automatic tranny because the ECU reads how fast the car is going and knows when to shift, if you car is reading 0 MPH/kph then it wont shift...

check to see if it is plugged in. my plug came loose, and I bought a VSS, got ready to change it, and found the plug had come undone. its about a 30 minute job to change it. 2 hose clamps, 2 bolts(i think, cant remmber) and 1 plug...just king of hard to get to. I think I had to undo my shifter cables to change it out, but just check the plug first.

yeah, it might be something else. are you throwing a code? if your VSS isnt functioning, then your car would have erratic shifting.

the only thing i notice was that when i push it it was taking a little longer to shift like if it was slipping and on the highway to day i thought it was in 4th but it was in third, imma try and get behind it tomorrow to get a look at it
