Default Tranny problem after expo..

so drivin around the track i had no problems at all with goin thru the gears, especially since i was mostly into 3rd and 4th on track. On the drive home (about a 5hr drive), i was mostly cruisin into 4th and 5th, averagin bout 140km/h except in construction zones. So anyways, after the long drive, i get into my city, i get to a red light, i stop, then i get a green, i go to put it into 1st, and it just grinds like crazy....then at the next light, it wouldnt go into 1st at all, so i tried startin it from 2nd, and it grinds again...i was like wtfff!! and even right now, same deal, it will not go smoothly into 1st or 2nd, and 1st feels like its lockin up or somethin.
Anyone have any idea what happend to my tranny?!?!

check all your hydrolics before you go tearing things apart. check your clutch master cylinder, then make sure the slave cylinder moves and the fork is in the correct place. if thats all good, i would take it apart and check your release and pilot bearings. which i bet may be the problem. good luck. tranny problems blow.

no, only problem is 1st and 2nd, all other gears work perfect like before.

Ill check all those things out, hopefully theres somethin wrong on the outside of the tranny that i can fix, i really dont want to take apart my tranny, etc.

Sounds like your clutch is a gonner. Most likely a piece of metal sheared off near the springs on the clutch disk. Its not uncommon, but as others have stated, check everything else first

the reason your not having a problem with other gears is beacuse your are moving. you can change gear without using the clutch if you want while moving if you match engine/gearbox speed, but you wont do your gearbox/synchro any favours. get it sorted asap to avoid damage to the gearbox, the clutch is there for a reason. good luck with it.

you might be a little low on tranny fluild.

i noticed towards the end of some of the sessions on day 2 my tranny was starting to get a little hard to shift. I have a little leak out of the diff. seal tho so i know it was because i was starting to get low.

Walker....That is exactly how my stock clutch broke. Only my sheared off peace was lodged against the rivets and was quite deformed when I took it out. It never slipped, just straight up failed one day

Sounds similar to the problem I'm having, I assumed it was a synchro problem. Clutch would probably be better

I had the same problem as Jim with my old clutch. There was plenty of meat left on the friction surface, but a piece of metal around the spring broke off - I could actually hear it bouncing around inside the housing.

sounds like clutch, either the throwout bearing when out or the springs on the clutch died...

Mine did the same as well. Lots of friction surface left, but the car was undrivable.

I'm having detonation problems.

Stock Y7. Either the fact I downshifted too early and spun it up to 8,500 indicated or the gas can I used to put a gallon in it when I ran out of gas had a bit of diesel in it. Ran that tank out (half a tank) and put in $4 of 87 and $2 of 93. Still doing it.

Buy a $6 gallon can of Toluene or Xylene. Pour it in. Cheap octane!
