Prelude LSD????
I have 1997 Turbo Honda Prelude SH that making over 300whp. 1st and 2nd gear goes no wear but wheel spin. I looking to take out the atts which is in inactive and replace the tranny with a LSD tranny. I was just wanted some opinions. The JDM Prelude SIR with the m2b4 tranny goes for like 1g and has the oem lsd. The quaife or Kaaz LSD around 750-1,000 plus installation. Is there a big difference with going with one of the aftermarket company then the honda oem lsd? Besides the price. What you guys think?
I am not going use the SH tranny. I either will go with the M2B4 tranny if i want the honda oem lsd. or if I go with a aftermarket lsd i will probably get a 1992-96 prelude tranny. Either way I will need new axles and a intermediate shaft. I just want to know if you think the m2b4 tranny is as goog as a tranny equipped with a quaife lsd?
Dude its gonna be a bitch to mount any tranny to a SH block.. you need a custom fab adapter plate.. the local tuner shop in the area wont do these because they say they are unstable/unrelyable. There are a few members that have done it but from what ive read and heard is that its kinda a ghetto patch job to rig it.
yea i know that you have the fabricate a plate so the intermediate shaft bolt on where the atts used to be. im not worried about that. i work at a machine shop. by the way if i get this plate working u think i can produce a couple of them to sell? wat about the different lsd?

the M2B4 helical LSD unit isn't a bad LSD. it's basically a quaife, but without the lifetime guarantee and probably doesn't engage as smoothly. It's an easy way to get the LSD in your car, without having to take everything apart and install, on top of having to create the adapter plate.
however, the ultimate prelude tranny is probably an M2F4 (4th gen vtec) b/c it has the closest gear ratios w/ a quaife or kaaz. The quaife will be less maintenance, as the kaaz will need occasional rebuilds to replace the worn clutchpacks, since the quaife is a gear-type and the kaaz is a clutch type. the kaaz however, has a much more agressive engagement.
i'd go with the m2b4, but the m2f4+quaife is also a solid choice.
