How big of a difference will a stock clutch be compared to a performance clutch?

Im in need of a new clutch and my mechanic is estimating $310 for an OEM clutch installed and around $540 for an ACT clutch installed. Im on a budget and cant waste much money. My car is pretty much stock and was wondering if its worth the money getting a performance clutch on a stock car? Thanks

Ill like to thank everyone for all your help
Do you plan on future mods? The stock clutch can be pretty crappy and slippy on a stock car... I'd say go for it if you plan to really beat on the car. Plus, when and if you get more power, the better clutch will better compliment the engine.

I dont plan one doing anything out of the world to my car, I want MPFI swap, cam, header, intake, exhaust, and hopefully do some head work to it. So u think with theses parts the stock clutch wouldnt be able to handle it, or should I just go for the performance clutch.
personally, i really love performance clutches. I'd say go for one, even if you're staying stock, or near-stock, power-wise. They grab soo much better, no messy slipping, they just make the car more sporting and fun to drive.
I would hold of on the performance clutch for now. It looks like you dont seem to plan on doing ALL those mods anytime soon. Performance clutches are good if you need it. Even with intake, header, and exhaust, you still wont over power yor stock clutch. Unless your the type of person doing burnouts every chance you get, the stock clutch should still hold. If your planning to Race on the track on slicks, then I'd get the clutch in that case.
for a whole yr, I was racing with a 2 yr old stock clutch hitting mid 13 second time slips and using slicks. And I was getting 1.8 60fts with it too.
In my opinion, clutches are overated in certain situations. Get more modifications before you dump all your money into just the clutch.

yeah i was thinking that, cause the clutch might be 295 by itself, but then they start making up **** that they are going to do this and that to the flywheel and at the end they b.s. that price. To me a reasonable price would be some 450 installed.
