does a acura legend 87 i think have a way of checking codes a friend of mine has one and i wont start but it turns over and the only time it does try the start, the mpgfi light in the dash come on and it will start. whats the deal can anyone help is a legend obdo of what and where the ecu at. i look under the carpet. thanks for any help.

 

if he has a sedan, the ecu is located under the passenger seat. under the driver seat is the tcu incase you ever need that. as far as turning over and not starting, can be a number of things including gas and spark. when you first turn the key to ON but not starting it, listen for a click to come from the rear of the car, that is the fuel pump clicking on (via the main relay). next, check your plugs to see if they are getting spark. 9 times out of 10 its the main relay that goes bad (located under the dash by the fuse panel on the driver's side). if it does this to me, i typically give the dash repeative swift kicks (not too hard, dont want to break anything) while turning the key, and it starts for me.
