My friend bought a 94' del sol a few months ago and he loves it to death. It sounds funny - but he's fairly new to the US (he's P.R) and doesn't know much about civics and their engines. All he wants to know is if he has a JDM motor or if its just an SI. I'll describe it to you -

1.) The tranny block says B16A3
2.) It may have a new red top valve cover, it looks NOTHING like a stock SI.
3.) For having only an exhaust, it has some serious *****. (He's been keeping up with GSR's and beating other SI civics.)

In my opinion, I think its just an US Si, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Also, he's been having some problems with it - such as BADD stuttering when hitting V-tec and sometimes it just runs like ****.

if it says b16a3 it is a usdm motor and if its stock its not an s.i. is a vtec
prob needs routine maint.
