Default CTR swap into DC?

I have been rebuilding my 94 Ls for the past couple of months now and I am happ
y with my results so far.
1.)Tan int. to black interior
2.)ITR climate controls and clock
3.)SiRG cluster
4.)USDM ITR Door Panels
5.)SiRG fenders
6.) Koni Yellows w/groud control coilovers
7.)Power folding mirrors

Now I am about to send my car over to the body shop and get all the body work done and paint it Jet Black. So when I get it back I want to have a motor ready to swap in. And I was wondering if any one has swapped in a CTR motor into a DC? A buddy of mine said he has seen one but I want to know if its worth the money. I dont see the point in swapping a 1.6 into a DC. Any feedback?

Just get a GSR swap dude, it's about the same HP, and half the price...CTR is way to much! waste of time in money IMO.

or you can do none of the hype R motors and get yourself a b18c1/b18b and use the change for boost

i personally feel having a hype r motor is about bragging rights...nothing to do with power...because it certainly isnt the best bang for the buck...its just one of those "ooo look hes got a type r motor" things...

Or a K series for that matter.

Stick with what you have and go turbo!

I am an All-Motor guy so turbo is out of the question for now. I am considering a H22 or JDM B18c (either GSR or Type-R)swap and the K swap is only possible if I rob a bank. I had an LsV (B18b block w/PR3-2 head)before and I loved it. And the last motor in my car was a B20B.

if you're an all motor guy, go lsvtec or b20vtec. no point of ctr. lol there's no replacement for displacement.

I'd go with a fully built B20 vtec for all motor.

if you liked your lsv try out a gsr block (or jdm b18c) and and use a b16 head... its pretty much a type r motor without the cams pistons and other little things but it is an awsome motor and makes some good power

a b16b swap is just too much $$ for that amount of HP. like stated above.. get a GSR swap itll be almost as fast as the CTR, or get an ITR motor.. same price but faster then CTR... or.. my PERSONAL choice.. H22a swap for much cheaper then all of the above with more power then all of the above

But also, a very technical and difficult swap compared to a B series.

jdm_bones is right. Stick with what you got and go turbo...best bang for your buck plus you already have the motor. You'll own a DC with a CTR swap anyday. Say you got pics of your car? I want to see all the work you put into it.

I am also working on a DIY for installing the power folding mirrors using the JDM Switch and relay.

Sounds like a cool project. The b16b isn't going to make enough torque to get the dc chassis moving unless you keep your car above 5k.

For comparison( CTR engines aren't much less than k20s)

K20-r
DOHC, VTEC, 16 Valve
Displacement 2157cc
Horsepower 220hp@7400rpm
Torque 142lbs-ft@6000rpm
Compression 11.0:1
Redline 7900 rpm

B16b
DOHC, VTEC, 16 Valve
Displacment 1595cc (DOHC VTEC)
Horsepower 185hp@8200rpm
Torque 116lbs-ft@7500rpm
Compression 10.8:1
Redline 9000rpm

I say go for the K if you can afford a CTR motor

I am going with a B18C. The CTR idea was thrown my way from one of my buddies. CTR swap for 3g's or a K20 Type-R motor 5g's (motor and tranny) but the actual swap for a K is the killer. I dont have 10 g's for a swap . Theres no way that I would swap a 1.6 into my car but I was wondering if any one has done this and what there results were. Boosting my car was an option but I just cant for some reason or an other. I cant get away from All-Motor.

a gsr motor sounds like a good choice if you don't want to boost the ls. i was just pointing out that the ctr swap isn't a feasible idea as your current ls motor has 10 ft./lbs. of torque more than the b16b. good luck on the swap

Thanks to every one that has posted. I appreciate all of the input. Now I just have to wait for my car to come back from the body shop so I can get going on the swap. I have had my car for two years and now I am finally doing every thing that I wanted to do when I first bought the car. As soon as I get the car back I will post pics.

Before you decide to do this, drive a car with a b20b engine. My friend had one in his EG hatch and that **** was slow after 1st gear.
