Battery Light comes on shifting to 5k after missing gear at redlining accidentally (d15b2)
I was driving yesterday when this problem, i was trying to pass someone when i missed my gear and redlined accidentally. Now since that incident my my Battery Light comes at 5k (normal driving) my headlights get brighter and my 8"bazooka tube cuts off also (by that meaning no bass) when the BL comes.
What could be the problem? Is it the alternator or the battery?
I have a 88 Crx Dx, with Optima red top battery and a Bosch alternator which i both replaced just within the past couple of months. Thanks!

most likely it is the alternator. the battery light means that the alternator isnt functioning properly.
the first thing i would check is the slack on the alternator belt and [if the alternator belt is still there] disconnect the positive cable to see if the car turns off. if it does turn off, replace the alternator [warranty
].
i think after that mis-shift the high engine revs damaged the alternator.
hope that was any help

Thats what i was thinking but i wasnt for sure.
How is the alternator damaged from reving too high?

Belt connects the engine and the alternator if i am not mistaken. Thats why you rev your engine to charge your battery, because you are getting the alternator to charge it quicker. Working it too hard might cause failuire.
yep. either the belt broke or spun the alternator to fast causing the bearings in the alt. to go all out of whack! your battery terminal may have also come loose if ur battery is not mounted properly.

Its a bosch alt, that should tell you something. Its junk, by a reman'd Honda unit from the dealer and be done with it. I'd rather have a 10yr old used Honda alt than a new Bosch. My .02.

Actually, i agree with you 100%, this is like my 3rd Bosch alternator and its covered under warranty so it was pretty much free
. But yes, i do have get a reman. Honda alt. ore even a Nippon-Denso alt. but have to save up.
Well, i went to loosen my alt. belt and revved it to 5k and the BL did not come on so hopefully when i go to work today the peoblem will be solved, hopefully.

I drove about...150kms on a busted alternator belt (actually a bolt snapped on the alternator and it became loose, the belt simply slipped off) and the battery light at first only came on when I would rev high. Then it came worse and worse and the lights slowly but surely started to die off. Lost all my exterior lights except my headlights (which only switched to day light running lights) and I lost the radio and other energy sucking accesories. At first I didn't know what the problem was. I thought I had blown a fuse, but then it became apparent when things slowly started to die off. It wasn't the first time I had blown a belt (first time the alternator seized tho...it was kinda cool).

I know, thanks for the heads up.

I have to do something about because need my bass tube to work. I drove the car today to see if the alt. belt was too tight but not the case, still same problem, i'm thinking something is wrong with the alt.

the charging issue probably has nothing to do with the missed shift.
if everything is hooked up fine, and belt tension is correct, take off the alt. and have it tested. autozone/ napa/ etc will do it for free. have the battery load tested as well while you are there, sice you already have to make the trip.

Your right about that, something happened when i revved to redline that caused that problem. It's funny because after i got the new alt. and bat. i noticed the battery light would come on when it actually goes to redline. I was thinking maybe my alt. is overcharging, i'm lost at this point.
I took off the - bat. cable to test the alt. and it was still running when i took off the - bat. cable.
