Id give away what I'm using, but then it might fall back to slap me in the face.

crime guard 745i4,,make sure to get the paging option...thats the best alarm in my opinion for the money...$200 + $90 for paging option..i dont think it has remote start but i wouldnt put remote start on a manual anyway,,

Ive been installing for years... the best alarm is one that a quality installer puts in... you can take a fantastic alarm, do a crappy job and wind up with a crappy alarm... you can take a reliable (but not necessarily expensive) alarm, do a great install and have a great alarm..

peronally I stick with DEI (viper, python, clifford, avital, valet, hornet, etc) since most of their models have a lifetime warranty and if done at most shops the install will have a lifetime warranty as well.. ive put in thousands of dei alarms and so far have only had one fail... personally i have a viper 600 in my truck and a valet 563t in my rex...

brands i would recommend that i have had good luck with:

dei
omega
compustar
prestige

avoid "code alarm" at all costs.. installed those for a couple of years (not by choice) and we had a nearly 50% failure rate, higher on some models...many were shipped witht he wrong parts, wrong manuals, incorrect manuals, etc...

good luck!

This is so true....try to hide the alarm, wires, and relays the best you can,,otherwise the thieves will just follow it right back to the brain,,and put the led light somewhere thats its noticable but not making it easy to get the wire and find the brain....on the ignition wire harness tape up all those wires with electric black tape,,and maybe run them in a loom,,then run them over the steering instead of under....make these ******s work for it....another thing i did was relocate the hood release cable,,cause its easily accesible where it is right now....hide the speaker(s) well......and hide the alarm brain very well dont ever tell anyone where it is.......make sure to get an alarm with paging and battery back-up......

i spent about 3 days working on my rex alarm since it was already stripped.. every wire is red, every wire is taped, every wire has 6 duplicates.. every wire is in a factory loom, every wire goes in random different directions all around the car.. 2batt backups, 3 sirens (1 inside), strobes inside, motion sensor, 2 shock sensors, and the unit is hidden and has a steel plate over it with spanner screws securing it...

same on my truck except i put steel dead bolts in the doors which lock on arming...

I got very angry when my truck got broken into.....

Hells ya! The security is in the installation, not the alarm!

You just throw a bunch of dummy wres in there so someone trying to disable the alarm has a harder time doing it. Plus making them all the same color makes it harder. The wiring isn't hard, but making it hard to disable takes some creativity.

You have to think. "If I were stealing this car, what would I absolutely NOT want this guy to do?"
