Spun Rod Bearing / Rod Knock. what im plannin to do next.. am i on the right path?
I have a slight Rod Knock on my JDM b20b block. Supposedly less then 1k mileage Motor.. just got car 1 week ago.. all i did was test the rev limiter by hitting 7.5k rpm and rev limiter didnt kick in, so my motor started this noise... so here are my specs:
B18B 1.8L Non-Vtec Head
- Port and Polished
B20 Block
- Bored/Sleeved 84mm
- Sleeved by Golden Eagle
8.0:1 JE Pistons and Piston Rings
Eagle Rods
JDM Integra 1998 GS-R Oil Pan
from the research ive done, i know i need to
1. take motor apart, take off head. inspect the block
2. get my crankshaft turned over and micropolished (get it nitrided and cross drilled good idea?)
3. get my rods resized
4. use ARP main stud bolts and rod bolts?
5. get full gasket kit for my whole motor, for the head gasket, oil pan gasket, water pump gasket, etc etc
6. get block hot tanked and honed
7. new piston rings?
8. get block balanced?
9. get bearings replaced
10. ???
is there anything else im missing?? please let me know because im plannin to do this by myself, not taking it to bseries or sportcarmotion anymore, learned its cheaper to do it urself by just taking it to machine shop to do the labor u need.

Throw away the old crankshaft and buy a good used one. Have it balanced and micropolished. Chamfering and softening the edges of the oil holes is optional, but recommended.
The rods don't need to be resized. They do need to be sent along with the crankshaft, pistons, piston rings, wrist pins & wire locks, and a pair of rod bearings for balancing.
The crankshaft pulley also needs to be checked for balance when they do the crankshaft.
Eagle rods already come with ARP rod bolts. Use a stretch gauge when tightening them to check oil clearances and for final assembly.
Strip and clean the head.

so do i need to get a full gasket kit for my whole motor ?
why not get rods resized? thats what bseries said they would do if they were to do it?
what about getting block hot tanked and honed?
new piston rings?

ic..
ic..
Replace whatever gaskets, o-rings, bearings, belts, and other wear items that you feel are necessary. There are some o-rings and gaskets you can reuse. You just need to inspect them for damage and clean them before re-installing them.
Use whatever rings come iwth the JE pistons. File to size, deburr, and install.
Cleaning the block and parts is a given.
