JDM H22a Block And Type S Piston Quick Question (Searched)
I cam across an H22a JDM Block, Can i add type S Pistons without doing any other work? Also Will Crower Stage II Cams Be able to run with this setup. Thanks
as long as the crosshatches on the cylinder walls are ok from the stock hone, then all you would need to do is put them in. BUt considering the fact that the block is not in the car and a hone really isnt expensive, i would get a fresh hone just to reassure myself.
Crower stage II isnt really THAT aggressive of a cam. With 11:1 compression you could go with a more aggressive cam and not be sacrificing anything downlow-midrange

just MAKE SURE that whoever you have hone your block, make sure they know what to do with FRM sleeves. It takes a particular stone to hone and if you use the wrong one you are s.o.l.

Yeppers,
Sportcar motion, deal with hondas and H series. They know about FRM
Thanks again.

cos i was having the same question... if the cylinder walls are just fine the pistons are just "plug-n-play" situation right? thats the same with any stock size bore aftermarket piston (any compression)?

If aftermarket rods are used, IE... Eagle H Beam would that be ok.?

the crower stage II cams require the upgraded valve train to rev it higher to get the max power and potential. if you have a type s head i know the valve train is a little stronger but the rev it higher u would need the upgraded valve train, if not you better make sure not to miss a shift and rev too high.
hope this helps.

when you go for the hone, print off the honda specs for the honing process on teh FRM. I took the sheet into 3 shops and they all said the stone was not an isuse since its used often, but it ws the very low rpm and limited number of turns in the hole tht were an issue, the RPM especially.
