Default 2005 Civic Type S question...

Hi there guys.

I am hoping to change the headunit soon and was wondering would I need to purchase a new facia? or the standard din size is behind the curvy standard cd unit that came with the civic?

Yes, you have to buy a dash kit to accomidate the new head unit, and theres a tutorial out there somewhere.

The AC ***** and such will stay though, as it is 2 seperate pieces.

Just the CD player itself, and the area Immediately under it will be replaced.

heres a link to find it, click here for link. thats what it looks like. You can get them off EBay real cheap, or any place that sells/installs stereos.

thanks for the reply bro, just had to double check so that I can get everything ready so that it will be an easy installment, etc

also, you know the standard gear **** you get with the type-s? it basically clips onto the gaitor, I bought the type-r replica (5-Speed version) but it doe snot clip onto the gaitor, what kind of mod do I have to do to either the gaitor or the gear **** to insure the gaitor is well tightened and in-place.

Thanks

Pete

sorry for double posting but I plan to get a dvd player with a TV from China, my relatives might send over one which requires 2din slots, how will I go about that? cause the ones on ebay have the same bottom shelf as the standard one :S

Thanks again

heres what i did with mine, seeing as i have a B&M short throw and the OEM R ****,

[/img]
i just tied it off at the bottom around the shifter, shows off the lever and **** both.

But if you got the **** from a dealership, it will come with all the parts needed to secure the boot to the **** itself.

As for the Dual DIN, hollar at FVENTURA03, hes got one in his ride i think. I have seen it on here at H-T, ill look around for it for you.

Nice pics! I would have got it from the main dealer but they overcharge, lol...they want like £50 for a gear ****! (equivalent to approx $90ish)

I bought mine off ebay for only a mere £12, lol.

Also, sorry I did not make myself chear enough, but by 2din I mean seperate units. As in the dvd is sepearte from the tv unit.

BUT after looking at your 2din dvd/tv combi it seems to look like a standard gps unit which is good as it kinda keeps thieves away? The only problem with the seperate dvd/tv system is thieves WILL be attracted to it

Any suggestions about the safest choice?

Also @ fventura03, what is metra? :S

started in 02, i bought a whole new console with the lid for my 01.

metra is the brand that makes the dash kit for dual dins, and yeah theives like navigation setups... so protect yourself accordingly.
