Thoughts on Falken Azenis
I Just mounted my Falkens on some Millenia wheels last night. When I first drove the car I did not like it so much. Very different than stock tires. The feel to me is more sloppy. However, after going on some off ramps, I do think they have a little better grip. I can't wait to take them on a road course. Any other thoughts???

205/50/15 Azenis won't feel "right" on a 6" rim since the Azenis are sooo wide.
We've discussed this a lot--try to search and you may dig up some more info.

It's been almost a month now since I got the Azenis. I had Kumho 712s before and there really is a difference in grip that you can feel. It feels like they are almost in between the grip levels of the 712 and the V700s. That's why I just hope they won't wear out too fast since I don't want to buy a new set of street tires every year. You can run up to 51 psi on the Azenis as written on the sidewall (as opposed to 44 that's written for most other tires) and that's great for autox. This way I can run around 48 in the rears to get the car to rotate better, while anything below 42 for the front starts to roll too close to the sidewalls on my big and heavy Talon even with 1.4 negative camber. This might not be the case in a 600 lbs lighter ITR though. Other than that I have to say I am very pleased with these tires and the performance is beyond what I was expecting from them (and I was expecting something better than the 712s). No wonder a lot of the autox street touring guys are snatching up these tires so quickly! Oh and rain performance is great, too. I've had them in really heavy rain and made a couple of autox runs on them on a wet course with puddles and they stick very well. In fact an IT racer I know will be getting a set of these in full tread as his rain tires (and this guy is a front runner, too).
If I had 10 cars and they all needed new tires, I would get Azenis for all of them.

i love them. they actually got pretty long life. i have tried many tires and every tire is very easy to be "destory" or "serious injury" after one day in street of willow.
hmm.. i think with all tires, you have to break them in. usually its 500 miles of easy acceration and cornering. after that, u can get the full potential of the tire.
just got mine today. they look a lot like the yoko pradas. any thoughts on comparison in terms of grip and performace??

How long do Azenis last? Are they a track only tire, or are they daily driveable? They're only $60 a piece, how many miles do they last on average of normal driving?
i have the pradas. they look simalar but perform very different. pradas are good but made for street strictly. not for hard cornerings. falkens kick some serious *** compared to pradas. i see people improve autox times from switching pradas to falkens

what pressure are you running them at? if it's too low that could be why it's sloppy. it could be that a 6 " rim is too small, but i think wilard showed a pic once of them on his stock rtims (but i could be WAY wrong on this)
as a track tire they're fine. i got them because the re010's started chunking on tracks and i've used them for 4 events and they're doing just fine. one of these events was roebling , which is a track that's hard on tires too (killed my re010s)
until i get to the point of using slicks, i can't think of a better tire for the track
-jeff, who ran his at 36/34 on the streets and 40/39 on the track

i agree with the sloppy feel and was going to make a post about it...but i already made 3 azenis posts in a week so i didnt want to make another. the sloppy feel drove me nuts but i kept doing small burn outs and it seems to grip a little better. i love how the stock re010 have that stiff feel which reminds me of how the bmw m3's handle. the azenis is a great budget tire but i think im going to stick with bridgestone and probally buy the s03's next year.

BTW - the sloppy feel is due to the Azenis being an oversized 205/50 tire...not due to them being inferior to the Bridgestones. If you get 6.5" or 7" rims, definitely give the Azenis another shot.
yah I was thinking about that too (rim size too small). thats why if i could, i would buy a 195/50/15 version if they made it. which i dont think they do!!

On the 205/50/15 on 6" wide rims what F/R psi do you guys use on the streets to get rid of some of that sloppy feeling? I was thinking 39 psi F&R, but haven't tried them just yet.

30psi on a 6" rim is scary I think they'll come off the rim at that psi in a turn that is, but in a 1/4 mile run that would be perfect. 35psi seems a little low for the streets with all the sloppy feelings everyone's talking about.
You can go down on the front quite a bit for rotation.
