Default 97 civic clutch question.

I began to notice that my rpm was slipping slightly when realeasing the clutch and I replaced the fluids. At first the rpms jump down after shifting into a new gear, now when I am starting in a new gear the rpms jump up really high as if its the clutch isnt responding and acceleration is very slow. But the rpms also jump up when trying to speed up while in gear. I thought this was for sure my clutch but the rpm shifts while in gear made me skeptical. What specificially could cause this?

as faaast95eg8 was implying, probably an old clutch, that is giving out. When your engine speeds up but your car is not accelerating as it should, your clutch is probably slipping. May need a replacement, any local mechanic will be able to confirm this if he test drives it.
