01 civic making a lawnmower noise

Default 01 civic making a lawnmower noise

alrite i have a 01 civic with around 70k miles on it and when i press on the gas to accelerate it makes a loud lawnmower sounding noise. what may be the cause? when im not acclerating it doesnt make any where noises.. i.e. coasting. need help soon because im afraid somethin is gonna go on me. this is daily driver for about 70 miles a day.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. But maybe he was talking of a loud hissing noise or something.

An exhaust leak is the only thing I could think that would come CLOSE to sounding like that.

An exhaust leak, or possibly something in the way of a transmission issue.

wasnt an exhaust leak, buddy tells me it might be the suspension or motor. and he also told me its not the belt.

It's not suspension, because the noise originates when you're on the throttle.

My friend had an ej civic and it made a really really load noise and he had stock piping. Come to fuind out it was a whole in the cat. check that.

he meant it had a whole cat stuffed into his stock exhaust. that tends to restrict airflow.

sounds exhaust driven... definetly check the exhaust! If it's not the exhaust find out where the sound is coming from so you can to narrow down the search (i.e. engine bay, right side.. etc..) Sorry not much help, but can't do a lot over the internet

Check your exhaust manifold for a leak. I have seen another newer civic have the same old problem the 92-95's did with the manifiold cracking.
