Default Supercharger...need help!!!

My brother in law can hook me up with a Procharger supercharger at dealer cost for my 2000 si. I did some research and Procharger makes 2 kits...a complete kit with fuel management, and a tuner kit that must get tuned. The complete kit is only $200 more, however, if I go with the tuner kit I would have to spend another $700 to get it tuned. What do you guys think? Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated. Thanks!

See link below for more info on Procharger supercharger...

What kind of fuel management does the complete kit come with? I skimmed through the link, but couldn't find info on that. I would just get the kit without any fuel management and go with something like AEM, hondata, or any stand alone system. Then have a good tuner get all the power he can out of your S/C kit.

I just called the Procharger tech support and they told me that the complete kit includes a T-Rex fuel pump, and then they use a Procharger brand FMU.

The guy said if I wanted to go bigger, just get the tuner kit and upgrade to 440cc injectors and get it tuned.

I'm leaning towards the tuner kit, i'd like to push more than the 245fwhp that Procharger claims with the complete kit.

Thanks! Anyone else have a recommendation?

Get the procharger complete kit. Get an OBD1 ECU and convert the car over, then run hondata/crome/uberdata/Neptune/etc and get it tuned by a tuner. Get some DSM 450s, ditch the FMU, and get the car tuned by a local tuner.

Best way to do it, hands down.

I'm sorry but I'm not exactly sure what happens when you convert to OBD1?

Unless dealer cost is below 2 grand, don't do it. A fairly heavy EM1 with a torqueless B16 is pretty ball-less on the low end to start with, and a centrifugal supercharger doesn't help you out at all.

He's not exactly sure what dealer cost is but thinks it'll be 50% off retail which is $3800.

I'm confused...I thought there was no lag on superchargers and that they produce immediate boost since its running off your timing belt???

Roots and twinscrew superchargers builds boost immediatly , while a centrifugal builds boost as you increase rpm causing you to only see full boost near redline.

Plus superchargers are run off the crank.

That sucks! Thanks for the info!

So a centrifugal supercharger is like a turbo then...there is no immediate boost because of the lag, thus no immediate hp or torque.

Absolutely not, they make much less mid range power than a turbo. With a properly sized turbo you could make 15 pounds of boost at say 4000 RPM's. If you have a Procharger pullied to make 15 pounds of boost peak with a 9000 RPM redline, you're probably only going to make 4 or 5 psi at 4000 RPM's while the turbo is making full boost.
