Default Compression Test Results

Okay, so i finally got to do a compression test on my car today. And i got pretty bad numbers. I'm thinking of re-testing tmrw morning...

Engine is a USDM H22A1. 100,015 miles.

C1=90
C2=118
C3=122
C4=138

So should i just bury it or is there hope for it yet?

edit: forgot to mention the engine is not running.

Try doing a compression test with the throttle wide open. See if your numbers change. But most of the time a compression test checks for your consistancy between cylinders. If your #1 cylinder still shows the lowest number, try doing a leaking down test for a more precise diagnosis.

im gonna try a WOT compression test also gonna see what kind of numbers i get with a little oil. If the numbers improve alot with the oil i may have found my problem... if not i may have some ef'd up valves.

Does not make a difference if you leave the throttle open or not, Ive tested both ways and saw no difference. With these numbers you are getting its time for a rebuilt no need to do a leak down, the motor has been beat and the nothing you can do other than rebuilding it.

It does matter if your throttle is open. If you don't open your throttle you won't get anough air to your cylinders to create pressure.
