its possible if the maps were made in crome.

You need a reader/burner before you could do that.

if the chip was made with some other program then it will not load up in crome

Sorry if I made it confusing. I have a burner and a chipped p28. But I want to take the basemaps off a stock ecu, and take them into chrome to modify them.

you cant extract a basemap straight from the ECU's program.

Now you can take the program off the of the chip.

BTW Crome already has plenty of basemaps out there so why dont u just use one of those?

how do you take the program off the chip? I need the basemaps for p2n and can't find it, maybe I'm looking in the wrong places?

96-00 manual trans hx. I am swapping a d16y5 (HX) head on my y7. I am currently making a peppy high mpg daily driver.

the best bet for a basemap would be using a 303stock bin, the timing and fuel will be very similar to the p2n. i would tune afterwards, but it will get you by for now.

where can I get this 303 bin? I am tructing you because your sig says vtec-e, so I am assuming you have experience with vtec-e. have you ever ran you z1 with a chipped ecu. is the 303 bin what you used? What are the difference between the 303 and the stock hx basemap?

You're talking about dumping the ROM to a .bin file (this is computer geek stuff)
stock core dumps:

Yeah, i'm confused on how to handle the d16y5 stuff. We need to get a bunch of people to keep creating threads on pgmfi to get them to do a rom dump.

well, its not that easy, dumping the rom in the p2n is more complicated than say a p2p or p28 or what have you, so you might not get as much help. anyways. as for the differance in the 303stock and p2n maps, i cant say because i cant find a p2n map either. i can only say the 303 ignition maps are safe enough to run on while untuned, well, more safe than a modified p2p or something else. they share many of the same attributes, vtec e, vtec crossover, etc, etc... main differance is head flow, the y5 head uses a y8 casting, so it flows alot better than the z1 head, which will require more fuel. i am also pretty sure the HX uses 240cc injectors, unlike the z1 which uses 190's.... i am currently running a z1 w/ bypassed egr, open loop (no o2 at all) and still getting 38mpg all city driving. people shunned me for trying it, said it wouldnt work, what have you, but it is fine. boost is next month. good luck, if you need help w/ vtec e bense or I should be able to answer pretty much any question you can think of.

haha, vtec e not by choice on my part, well, i would run a y5 if the oil pump didnt suck, but the z1 is just useless. boosted will be funner, but basically a hold me over.

i'm sure that if we buy a stock p2n ecu, and offer to mail it to a ecu person, as well as paypal them like $20 , we can get it. I wouldn't mind pitching in a few.

Im not even going to read.. Responce to original Q...

Crome comes with a P28 base.. You just load it and crome.. And you can edit if you want and burn it to a chip.
